The Chase returned to ITV with Bradley Walsh hosting and Paul ‘The Sinnerman’ Sinha as today’s Chaser.
Joining them in the studio were four new contestants, hoping they had what it took to go home with a share of the jackpot.
However, midway through the episode, Paul became stuck on a question and was forced to explain his position.
It was during the third player, Helen’s turn when she and the Chaser were tasked with the following question: “What substance is added to food to stop liquid and solid parts from separating?”
The answers on offer were: “A. Emulsifier, B. Preservative, C. Antioxidant.”
Commenting first, Paul remarked: “It’s terrible that I don’t know the answer to this!”
Helen then realised how the timer hadn’t started yet and said: “He’s not pressing either!”
Taking a risk, the player pressed her buzzer first and Bradley remarked: “At last, we put him under pressure.”
Those watching at home saw Paul finally give an answer after a few seconds and the host continued: “Right here we go. You have put… A. Emulsifier. That’s got to be right?”
Helen then discussed her choice: “I think so. Because an antioxidant is just an antioxidant! A preservative would be to keep it going.”

“Correct answer is? Got to be!” Bradley commented as answer A lit up in green. “You see! It makes sense in the end. Step closer to home. Emulsifier was right. The Chaser has put…”
And a red outline showed up on answer B, therefore Paul got the answer wrong.
While Helen was delighted by her efforts, Paul commented: “My dad has a saying: ‘Paul, you can’t make an omelette.’
“And he’s right! I really can’t make an omelette. I just don’t know my food and drink basics at all,” he exclaimed.
It seems his error stuck with him throughout the rest of the show as Helen and fourth player Roy joined Mickey in the final round.
I don’t know the answer.
Paul to Bradley.
Together, they racked up a whopping 21 steps, which Bradley commented on: “Well played. All chipped in nicely.”
“Great answers, they worked properly as a team,” Paul remarked before it was his turn.
However, with three opportunities to push back, and three executed, the Chaser was well and truly rumbled.
Running out of time, the team won a staggering £75,000 between them.
The Chase airs weekday evenings at 5pm on ITV.
