Strictly Come Dancing's Neil Jones has revealed the extreme measures he has gone to in order to heal ahead of Saturday's live show.

The professional dancer has been forced to miss two weeks of live shows after a devastating calf muscle injury.

Now, he's taken to Twitter to confirm that he has been busy partaking in ice baths in order to help the injury heal faster.

"I was so busy answering messages that I didn’t realise I had been in the ICEBATH for 30mins," he tweeted on Tuesday.

Ice baths are thought to help athletes and dancers who need to reduce inflammation and improve recovery of injuries.

The cold changes the way blood flows through the body by constricting the vessels. When the vessels warm up again and open wider, it is thought that metabolic waste can then be flushed out easier.

His tweet came a day after he confirmed he would be returning to the Strictly dance floor.

“Most people don’t like Mondays but I do… That’s because I get to teach a NEW DANCE!!!!" he shared.

When a fan replied to ask if he’d be back on the dancefloor, Neil replied: “It's positive at the moment but still I need to see.”

The BBC later confirmed he'd be back, revealing he and Alex would be dancing the Jive to Let's Twist Again on Saturday.

Strictly professional Kevin Clifton, who left the competition after performing with Aneeka Rice, stood in for him and danced with footballer Alex

in Neil’s place .

However judge Craig Revel Horwood slyly commented that Kevin had “worked wonders” with Alex while Neil was off.

The razor-tongued judge appeared to put the boot in during feedback for their American Smooth by saying: "This accidental partnership is working wonders."
