The 19-year-old daughter of TV chef Gordon Ramsay, 54, was confirmed as the ninth celebrity to join this year’s star-studded line-up on Wednesday. English actor Greg Wise, known for his role as Lord Mountbatten in Netflix’s royal drama, “The Crown”, was today announced as the 10th star of Strictly 2021. The 19th series of Strictly is expected to kick off in September, with a further five celeb stars still to be announced.

The programme is known for its gruelling schedule of training and performing, as the celebrities are put through their paces in front of the Strictly judges each week.

However, for Tilly, her journey to appearing on the show has been more arduous than most of her fellow celebs.

The teenager, who has more than 10 million followers across Instagram, Twitter and TikTok, was ruled out of Strictly in 2020 after she broke her left arm.

Tilly, who presented her own CBBC cooking show from 2015 to 2019, suffered the injury after she fell off a seesaw.

She confirmed the news, which ruled her out of Strictly, with a picture uploaded to social media in which she could be seen sporting a pink plaster cast.

The Sun on Sunday quoted a source as saying: “Tilly was geared up for this year’s show but won’t be better in time for filming.

“It’s a huge blow for her as she was hugely excited about taking part.

“And it’s a headache for BBC bosses, who thought signing Tilly was a coup, with her famous dad and his pals bound to back her.”

The source explained that doctors had said Tilly’s arm would not be fixed in time for the show.

Tilly, who is the daughter of Gordan and Tana Ramsay, was finally unveiled as a Strictly star for the 2021 edition on “This Morning” earlier today.

Hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford revealed she was the ninth star of the series before later unveiling Greg Wise as her fellow dancer.

Speaking about her new role, Tilly said: “I’m so excited and grateful to be joining the Strictly family!

“I’m always up for fun new challenges and this will be my biggest adventure yet!

“I’m going to put my heart and soul into this and can’t wait to get my dancing shoes on and show my dad how it’s really done! Bring on the glitz, glamour and sequins!”

Tana and Gordon had a pre-recorded message for their daughter, which was played on This Morning.

The couple had a warning for Tilly about the so-called ‘Strictly curse’ – the show’s reputation for sparking off-screen romances between celebs and their dance partners as their chemistry develops on the dancefloor.

Gordon said: “Hey Tills it’s your dad, TikTok coach, dance extraordinaire, wishing you all the very best we’re proud of you girl, love you!”

Tana added: “She’s not far behind in the dance stakes thank goodness it’s her and not you!

“Tilly you’re incredibly brave, I’m terrified but so excited for you good luck!”

Before the video ended Gordon then shouted: “And don’t date those dancers!”

Tilly has followed in her dad’s footsteps when it comes to the kitchen, holding a number of on-screen cookery roles including the BAFTA-nominated CBBC cookery show “Matilda and the Ramsay Bunch”.

Her Strictly co-stars are set to include a host of well-known faces, including BBC presenter Dan Walker and McFly’s Tom Fletcher.
