Strictly Come Dancing has come under fire from fans as they accused bosses of giving Angela Rippon the "easiest dances".

The fresh fix row comes after Angela, 79, wowed the judges with her Rumba to Rise Like a Phoenix by Conchita Wurst. The TV presenter and her partner Kai Widdrington were joint fourth on the leader board on Saturday night (October 14) after receiving 31 out of 40 from the judges.

Despite the impressive performance, fans couldn't help but speculate that Angela, who is the oldest contestant to ever take part in Strictly, has been given easier dances since the show kicked off in September. Sharing their thoughts on social media, one person wrote: "They are deffo giving Angela R the best dances for her ability…give her a jive or Charleston and make it fair."

A second agreed: "How come Angela R is getting all the dances like Rumba, Argentine Tango where she can do her leg stretches and get high scores? She’s very lucky with the dance order.

"She would hate the faster ones like Samba and Salsa." While another fan declared: "Don't get me wrong I love Angela R & Kai. She's brilliant and is so mesmerising to watch.

"However, it's time for her to do a faster routine now. Are the producers holding back because of her age? Even her Quickstep was 'Slower'." Although there are reservations towards the dances given to the newsreader, others have applauded the star for her incredible performances at the age of 79.

Heading to social media once again, one fan said: "Is Angela Rippon the best dancer on #Strictly? No. Is she, however, quite astonishing for someone of 79 and better than many of those half her age? Yes, she is. We know she won't win, she can't compete with the best younger ones, but bloody hell she's what the show is about."

Someone else added: "For someone who has just turned 79 YEARS OLD! Angela has the confidence of someone who is half her age and I love that for her. She's steadily improving as the weeks progress and Kai continues to push Angela to the best of her ability. WHAT AN ICON!"

While a third echoed: "I don’t care that that wasn’t a brilliant rumba – Angela Rippon is 79 f***ing years old – bloody brilliant!!! #Striclty @Kaiwidd you’re getting the best out of her!!"

On Saturday night, Jody Cundy and Eddie Kadi found themselves in the dreaded dance off. After both couples performed their routines for the second time, the judges unanimously decided to send the Paralympian home alongside partner Jowita Przystal.
