The Strictly Come Dancing competition is hotting up and in a few weeks time one celebrity contestant is going to lift the Glitterball Trophy and be named the 2019 winner. Comedian Chris Ramsey and his professional dance partner Karen Hauer have been a dark horse in the series and there is a real chance he would win the show according to a former professional.

Strictly spin off It Takes Two was hosted by Rylan Clark-Neal this evening and joining him for Choreography Corner was Nicole Cutler who was last seen on the show back in 2007 dancing with John Barnes.

Together, they took a look back at several of the performances from Saturday night and Nicole has some surprising comments about Chris’ future on the show.

“Let’s move onto Chris and Karen, they did the Paso Doble, judges were really impressed with the characterisation, the moody face, what did you make of the choreography?” Rylan asked.

“Oh, I love Chris,” Nicole replied. “I do! I think he’s just everything Strictly is all about.

“He is a complete beginner, never done dancing before, probably didn’t know what a Paso Doble was until the night!

“He kind of reminds me of someone from the past – Darren Gough.

“[Darren] was not very natural in the beginning, didn’t really know what he was doing, but he was dedicated, loved it and he ended up winning!” She continued.

“I was going to say he went onto win it didn’t he? So do you think Ramsey’s got what it takes to win?” Rylan probed.

“It’s Strictly! Anything can happen. They’re [Chris and Karen] are fantastic,” the former-pro explained.

On Saturday night, the northern comedian was awarded 31 points from the judges which placed him third on the leaderboard.

Bruno Tonioli said: “That was deadly serious, you definitely went for the kill, you were hammering! It was a very strong performance, I think artistically, you could have expanded it a little more.”

“I thought it was full of menace,” Craig Revel Horwood added. “Full of nastiness and totally uncaring – a man after my own heart. Well done!”

“This guy – look at him. He is fighting, he’s fearless, he’s dramatic, he’s giving us a Paso. I absolutely adored it!” She continued to rant.

Head judge Shirley Ballas also commented: “How you go from being jovial and bright to that kind of sophisticated, strength, arrogance, good portrayal of the dance – is beyond me!”
