The upcoming third film in Marvel’s Spider-Man universe, No Way Home, is currently shrouded in mystery. The cast list for the movie has been particularly kept under lock and key, with many people suggesting former Spider-Man actors Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will be making a triumphant return to the series. Unfortunately for fans, nothing has been confirmed just yet.

This week a previous member of the Spider-Man canon was confirmed to be making a return to the big screen.

JB Smoove, who played Peter Parker’s teacher, Julius Dell in the previous movie Far From Home recently appeared on The Daily Zeitgeist podcast.

The actor made an off-hand comment about making a comeback to the series.

He casually said: “I’m in the Marvel universe, in Far From Home – and I just did the new Spider-Man.”

The actor also revealed how he has a foot in both Marvel and DC Comics series, by revealing he is also in the Harley Quinn animated series as Frank the Plant.

Smoove played the nervous and frustrated teacher in Far From Home during Peter’s class trip to Europe.

However, the confirmation that he is in the upcoming movie No Way Home does confirm some tidbits about the film.

Dell’s return reveals viewers will be seeing more of Peter (Tom Holland) in school, despite his secret identity being revealed to the world in the last moments of Far From Home.

The prevailing theory within the fandom is that Peter’s scenes in school won’t last long, however.

Instead, he will attempt to find a way into another dimension – perhaps by working with Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) – to wipe his identity from history.

Alongside this dimension-jumping theory it has been reported Peter will be teaming up with Maguire and Garfield’s versions of the wall-crawler to take on past bad guys.

Earlier this year it was rumoured that Alfred Molina would be making a triumphant return as his villain Doctor Octopus.

Alfred himself recently broke the news that he did work on No Way Home, and even detailed how his character was making a return.

He candidly confessed: “When we were shooting [Spider-Man 3], we were all under orders not to talk about it, because it was supposed to be some great big secret.

“But, you know, it’s all over the internet. I actually described myself as the worst kept secret in Hollywood!”

He added: “It was wonderful. It was very interesting going back after 17 years to play the same role.”

Alfred also confirmed his version of Doc Ock would be making a return just moments after the final scene in the 2004 movie Spider-Man 2.

During this scene, Alfred’s Doc Ock sacrificed himself to save New York when his nuclear device became too powerful.

Spider-Man No Way Home is due out December 17, 2021.

The Avengers films are available on Disney Plus.
