Jed Wyatt has been making headlines for the past few weeks, and not for a great reason. His ex-girlfriend, Haley Stevens, came forward and said that Wyatt went on The Bachelorette while they were still together.

After the story first broke, Wyatt posted a photo of his family to Instagram, along with a caption saying he would, eventually, tell his side of the story.

Hi y’all. Several of you have reached out with messages and questions. Please know I’m not able to answer right now, but as soon as I’m able to, I will. •Until then, I ask that you please understand how much the actions being taken towards myself, my family, the men on the show, and above all, Hannah, are affecting all of our mental and physical health. •It goes beyond what is said online. Threatening letters and phone calls have been sent to our homes. My parents and sister are being verbally attacked in public. I beg you to remember what seems like a harmless action is damaging to real people. •I want to thank all of you who have reached out or reserved judgement until I am able to speak openly and I can only ask for your patience and kindness until then.

He continued: “It goes beyond what is said online. Threatening letters and phone calls have been sent to our homes. My parents and sister are being verbally attacked in public. But when the finale aired and Wyatt was finally able to tell his side of the story, it came off super sketchy. He told Brown that he never thought of his relationship with Stevens as serious despite regularly swapping “I love you”s, going on trips together, and meeting each other’s families.

Then, during the “After The Final Rose” episode, Wyatt apologized.

“First and foremost, from the bottom of my heart, I want you to know that I’m sorry. Apparently, they’ve already shown where I half apologized but, especially in hindsight, now that I’ve had time to review myself and my past and my behaviors towards not only you but other people, I fully see that I wasn’t the best that I could be,” he said.

Wyatt continued: “And by lacking details to you, the things that you deserve, and the things that you want, it kind of–not kind of–it ruined what we found here in a place that I never would have expected to find love like this with someone that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. And I know that you felt the same and I’m sorry that I took away that experience from you. I’m sorry that this has hurt your family, your friends, Bachelor Nation, everyone, my family, I’m sorry. I’m responsible for this. I will own up to it all day.”

Jed Wyatt has been receiving some negative Instagram comments

It’s no surprise that Wyatt’s been on the receiving end of some pretty brutal Instagram comments since The Bachelorette finale.

“I feel for your family, your ex & especially Hannah but YOU need to own your responsibility in putting them in this position. […] Hope your album never makes it far off the shelves because that would be true karma,” commented one person on Instagram.

“did you think about your cheating damaging real people? or does this only apply now because the roles are reversed,” commented another.

“You caused this mess. Remember that,” commented another.

Some people think Wyatt would be better off temporarily deleting his Instagram while things cool down. He doesn’t have a ton of fans right now, but he did apologize and if he proves a positive trajectory moving forward, this could all very well blow over.
