Midsomer Murders: Neil Dudgeon on ‘fetes’ in the show

The Midsomer Murders episode titled For Death Prepare has finally been given an air date after being axed in January.

The episode was meant to air on ITV on January 8, but it was dropped at the last minute to make way for an interview with the Duke of Sussex called Harry: The Interview.

Fans of the crime show were not thrilled Midsomer Murders was taken off air for Prince Harry’s explosive interview, but the instalment has been given a new air date for this Sunday at 8pm on ITV.

Within the episode, the Midsomer Mummers, a local amateur operatic society, are in the middle of rehearsing for their charity concert of The Pirates of Penzance when they discover a dead body.

The guest stars in the episode include Kevin Whately, Samantha Spiro, Clive Rowe and Shobna Gulati.

Kevin Whately – Jeremy Whittingdale

Kevin is perhaps best known for starring in Inspector Morse and his role as Neville Hope in the comedy-drama Auf Wiedersehen, Pet.

According to Forbes, the 72-year-old star spends his time with his family and working on charity activities for disabled children.

The English actor is playing a suspect in this episode of Midsomer Murders – but will his character be the one who ends up behind bars?

Samantha Spiro – Phyllis Cuttle

During the episode, production director Phyllis Cuttle asks the leading player, Marcus Dunlow (played by Alexander Hanson), of the Mummers to block his musical number.

Striding across the stage towards the prop treasure chest, Marcus tips it open with his sword to discover that buried beneath the gold coins is a dead body.

Samantha has featured in Sex Education as Maureen Groff and the romantic film Me Before You as Josie Clark.

Shobna Gulati – Shaila Handsworth 

Shobna Gulati used to portray Sunita Alahan in Coronation Street between 2001 and 2006.

She returned to the role at the end of 2009 and departed once again in 2013 – and has not returned since.

The actress has also appeared on the rival soap EastEnders and been a Loose Women panellist.

Clive Rowe – Derek Sharrow 

Oldham-born actor Clive Rowe starred in The Story of Tracy Beaker in the 2000s.

He went on to land various roles in films including one in the 2017 Disney adaptation of Beauty and the Beast in which Emma Watson played the leading lady Belle.

“The pressure is on to identify the victim and unmask the killer before they can stage their showstopping final act.”

Midsomer Murders airs on Sunday at 8pm on ITV.
