And Just Like That…, the Sex and the City reboot, is currently filming in New York City. While fans are excited about the reboot, they aren’t thrilled with some of the show’s alleged storylines. There are rumors that Mr. Big, Carrie Bradshaw’s big love, dies in the first episode of the series. Some fans can’t imagine a world without Mr. Big. Thankfully, the rumors are not confirmed, and even if Mr. Big dies in the reboot, streaming services make it possible to relive every moment of Carrie and Mr. Big’s love story. These are the key episodes you should watch from each season if you think the couple was goals.

The season 1 episode, “Secret Sex,” is a must-watch for Mr. Big fans

Mr. Big made his first appearance on Sex and the City in the show’s pilot episode. While he was cute and mysterious from the start, fans didn’t realize he was something special until episode six. Up until that point, Carrie and Mr. Big had flirted and waffled back and forth about getting together, but they hadn’t managed to go on their first official date. That all changed in “Secret Sex.”

The episode isn’t just the first time Carrie and Mr. Big officially get together. It’s the first glimpse into their tumultuous but incredibly passionate connection. Carrie overthinks things, Mr. Big is confused. All told, it’s the episode fans simply must watch if they want to remember how it all started.

The second season’s “Ex and the City” is controversial among Big and Carrie fans  

“Ex and the City,” the season 2 finale, is a bit of a controversial episode for Mr. Big fans. In the episode, Mr. Big explains to Carrie that he and Natasha are getting married. Carrie, understandable, freaks out and rushes out of a restaurant after unloading on Mr. Big. He insists he wanted to be the one to tell her, likely knowing how badly she was going to react.

Some fans hate the episode because it was the first time it looked like Mr. Big and Carrie weren’t going to work out. Still, there is reason to like the episode, too. The season 2 finale expertly depicts the excruciatingly awkward act of trying to be friends with an ex. In the end, Carrie figures out why Natasha made sense, and Mr. Big confirms it. It felt as if the duo finally came to an understanding about why things didn’t work out. 

‘Sex and the City’ fans agree, the season 3 episode “Easy Come, Easy Go” is especially sexy

Season 3 of Sex and the City found Carrie happily in a relationship with Aidan Shaw. The duo were polar opposites and, perhaps most importantly, Aidan was completely different from Mr. Big. With Big married, fans assumed that they had seen the last of the sexy financier, but that wasn’t meant to be. After running into each other in “The Big Time,” the former lovers fall into a sultry and incredibly sexy affair in “Easy Come, Easy Go.”

Sure, the affair wasn’t the most moral thing Carrie and Mr. Big ever did, but fans still argue that it was fun to watch them run around the city to meet up with each other. Carrie’s resistance to it, and Mr. Big’s insistence that she was the one he wants, certainly made the story arc exciting.

In season 4 of ‘Sex and the City’ Carrie Bradshaw has to say goodbye to the Chrysler Building

Season 4 of Sex and the City was a little rough for fans of Mr. Big and Carrie. The couple wasn’t together during the season. Still, they managed to settle into an easy friendship, despite Carrie’s renewed relationship with Aidan. The season 4 finale found Mr. Big packing up and leaving New York. When Carrie finds out, she laments that the “You can’t leave New York; you’re the Chrysler Building! The Chrysler Building would be all wrong in a vineyard.”

Mr. Big leaving New York behind is unimaginably sad, but fans of Carrie and Mr. Big together swoon over the couple’s chemistry in Big’s empty apartment. Still, that’s not the moment that does it for most viewers. Mr. Big wasn’t into grand gestures, but his quiet, subtle ones often proved Carrie is the one for him, even before he was ready to admit it. At the end of “I Heart NY,” Big leaves behind a record and a plane ticket for Carrie. The episode also stands as proof that, no matter the physical distance, the pair will always be connected.

The abbreviated season 5 still has a great Mr. Big moments in “The Big Journey”

Season 5 of Sex and the City was abbreviated to accommodate Sarah Jessica Parker’s pregnancy. With Mr. Big living in the Napa Valley and a short season, fans assumed they wouldn’t see much of their favorite financier. He did appear in the season a time or two, though. “The Big Journey,” the seventh episode of season 5, finds Carrie traveling across the country to promote her book and, potentially, hook up with Mr. Big.

Fans of Mr. Big love the episode because it feels like Big finally understands how badly he hurt Carrie. While she tries to minimize the emotional turmoil of their relationship for the sake of the hookup, he presses on, insisting that some of the stuff she had written happened “word for word.” Eventually, the former flames do hook up. Mr. Big theorizes that Carrie will need material for her next book, after all.

The series finale of ‘Sex and the City’ is perfect for fans of Carrie and Mr. Big

It would be impossible to compile the best moments between Carrie and Mr. Big without mentioning the series finale. In the finale, Mr. Big goes after Carrie in Paris and wins her back. Before hopping on a plane, he did something that had to be incredibly difficult for him. He went to her friends to find out if he should go after her or let her live her life with Aleksandr Petrovsky. Miranda instructing him to go get “our girl” remains a fan-favorite moment.

Fans loved the moment, but Darren Star and Chris Noth both kind of hate it. Noth has mentioned that he hated how the writers crafted sappy moments for Mr. Big, who he insists was too practical and too cold for the sappier moments. Star once suggested the series finale betrayed what the entire series was about.
