She will appear from Monday to Wednesday on the sofa with Dan Walker. The 50-year-old has been filling in for regular hosts on a freelance basis since November 2011. She also presents sports bulletins.

Born in Birkenhead, she started her career at BBC Radio Merseyside.

Last year, she followed footballer Marcus Rashford’s campaign to end UK child poverty, winning scoop of the year at the 2021 Royal Television Society Journalism Awards.

Louise left last month after 20 years.
