Peter Kay is in talks to make his big TV comeback alongside Michelle Keegan, she has claimed.

The 32 year old has starred in Sky One's comedy series Brassic since last year, and has now let slip that Peter could be joining the cast for the third season.

Comedian Peter, 46, is said to be a big fan of the series, with Michelle admitting she is keeping her "fingers crossed" he will make an appearance.

During an interview with Heart Radio, the stunning brunette said the show's creator Joseph Gilgun was in speaking to Peter about joining the show.

She said: "The last season I remember Joe speaking to Peter because Peter is a fan of the show.

"I don't know if it's true that he's joining, I just know that he's a fan of the show and that he was in talks with Joe last season.

"He would be a great addition to the show. I'm a massive fan of Peter Kay as well. Fingers crossed, it'd be hilarious."

Michelle plays Erin Croft in the hit series which follows a group of friends committing petty crimes to help make ends meet.

The second series is currently on air, with a third season already being confirmed by Sky for next year.

Peter recently made his return to showbiz after stepping out the limelight for personal reasons in 2017.

He starred in an audio version of his hit show Car Share to "cheer people up" amid the coronavirus pandemic.

In a statement, he said: "It's a horrific situation right now we're all going through and like so many people I feel compelled to try to do something positive in an attempt to cheer people up in some way.

"Sian Gibson, Paul Coleman and myself got together via t'internet and wrote a new short episode of Car Share. It all happened very quickly – in fact, it didn't exist a week ago."

Before signing off, Peter added: "Obviously we weren't able to film anything because of the lockdown but I hope people will use their imagination and enjoy listening."

The news of Peter's conversations with Brassic's boss come after he was forced to cancel his first live tour in 11 years.

He announced in a statement back in March "Obviously this is disappointing news but well and truly justified given the circumstances.

"We'll get through this, together and then we'll all have a great big dance for life. Stay safe and look after yourselves and the people around you."
