    Penny Lancaster has credited the menopause and her hormone replacement therapy (HRT) treatment for ,launching her “new career” as a policewoman on Lorraine.

    During Friday’s visit to the ITV studios, Christine Lampard stood in for Scottish sweetheart Lorraine Kelly where she welcomed a slew of stars onto the pink sofa including Strictly’s Ellie Taylor and former Love Island star Laura Whitmore.

    As the 43-year-old took over the helm of the show, she welcomed the Loose Women panellist onto the show to discuss her experience with menopause.

    In an emotional admission, the 51-year-old shared her difficult experience being prescribed HRT as she called for the popular medication to be made free for women up and down the country.

    After urging viewers to get themselves checked out after celebrating their 40th birthday, the starlet went on to credit HRT for inspiring her to launch her “new career” in policing.

    She told viewer: “HRT has credited me and given me a new lease of life. The red and white that’s the City police that’s who I'm with – it’s the square mile, but when it comes to big events like this, they need all resources from all over.”

    It was at this point that a clip of the blonde beauty taking part in the celebratory passing out parade which thanked officers for their hard work and dedication to the job.

    She went on: “And that was my passing out parade which was a wonderful occasion for friends and family and to get a certificate.

    “I love London, it’s steeped with history and tradition and I've got a new lease of life and I've started a new career, and like you said so many women have to give up their career so it can be done.”

    Her special recognition came after the ITV star took to the streets of London during Queen Elizabeth II state funeral back in September.

    Penny was one of 15,000 police officers who patrolled the streets of London from 5am where she manned the barriers near Queen Victoria’s Memorial.

    Speaking to PA News at the time, the starlet said: “I think it’s [the same reason] why every officer wanted to be here today, because we swore an oath to the Queen to serve in the office of constable.

    “This is the biggest honour of all. Leading up to that moment, it’s been a very emotional few days. It sort of hit in waves, I think it was just such a shock, it took a while for it to sink in.”
