Outlander has already started tugging at the heartstrings this season, as episode one saw Brianna Fraser (played by Sophie Skelton) finally getting married to Roger Mackenzie (Richard Rankin). However Brianna’s perfect day was not without its flaws, as she later overheard her father, Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) learning of some horrific news – Stephen Bonnet (Edward Speleers) is alive.

Fans will remember Stephen is the dastardly man that raped Brianna back in season four.

It was this rape that is said to have conceived baby Jemmy – however this has not yet been proven.

This event caused quite a stir in the Fraser family, as members of the clan blamed each other for the horrific incident, and left Roger wondering if his son was truly his.

Despite this, Roger took on Jemmy as his son, and vowed to be a protector for both him and Brianna for all days to come.

  • Outlander season 5: Claire trialled as a witch again?

Although this is a touching sentiment, things may be about to go sour for the newly-weds.

Stephen’s arrival back on the scene could spell a bad time for Brianna and Roger in episodes to come.

Despite not being able to prove it, Stephen may return to look for his supposed son – Jemmy.

If this does happen, Brianna and Roger may find themselves struggling to get rid of the cad, as he will no doubt be claiming his son has a birthright to know about his existence.

According to Brianna star Sophie in a recent interview, things are going to get “harder” for Brianna in episodes to come.

Does this mean Stephen will play a crucial part in the upcoming episodes and begin a fight for his right as a father against Roger and Brianna?

Meanwhile, Claire Fraser star Caitriona Balfe recently spoke out about the show’s new addition to the set this year.

Appearing on Good Morning America, Caitriona went on to announce the newcomer was none-other than Adso, the cat.

She then explained: “There’s many Adsos. We have lots of different stages of Adso’s life.”

However, as cute as the addition may be, Caitriona did explain that the cat can be a little “distracting” during filming.

She continued: “But they’re so sweet. And I think we all just get really really distracted whenever Adso is on set – and we don’t want to work!”

Despite how happy things are when Adso is around, Caitriona did eventually go on to tease some harrowing events throughout the rest of season five.
