The Star Wars director has already lined up Marvel stars Katheryn Hahn and Dave Bautista for Knives Out 2, one of the biggest film projects in Netflix history. Ahead of the release of Outer Banks’ highly anticipated second season, lead actress Madelyn Cline is confirmed to be on the list of suspects.

After her breakthrough performance as Sarah Cameron in the sun-soaked Netflix thriller, Outer Banks, Madelyn Cline has landed her first major studio film role.

Cline will be re-teaming with Netflix, who landed the rights to two sequels to Rian Johnson’s blockbuster ‘whodunnit’, Knives Out, this March.

She joins the previously announced roster of A-Listers, Dave Bautista, Janelle Monae, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Kate Hudson and Edward Norton.

Plus, 007 star Daniel Craig will of course be back as the well-mannered Southern sleuth, Benoit Blanc.

The Knives Out sequels have proven one of the biggest acquisitions in Netflix history, as the streamer reportedly paid $400 million for exclusive rights to the franchise.

Johnson’s original film screened in theatres in late 2019, raking in an impressive $311 million against a $40 million budget.

It’s currently unknown who Cline or her co-stars will be portraying in the upcoming follow-up.

Little is known about the plot, other than Blanc’s return to solve a case with another long list of potential suspects.

The star has steadily built a rapport with the streaming giant over the years, as she has previously appeared in the second season of Netflix’s hit series Stranger Things.

She then took subscribers by storm with her leading performance as Sarah Cameron in Outer Banks, along with romantic co-star Chase Stokes.

Her leading role ensured she was well prepared to take on Benoit Blanc, as the North-Carolina based Netflix drama also involved a twist-filled murder mystery.

Cline also appeared in indie hit Boy Erased alongside Lucas Hedges and Nicole Kidman.

Upon hearing the news, Outer Banks fans were thrilled to see the actress’s star power grow as she joined one of the most highly anticipated films of the next few years.

One fan tweeted: “This seems like a good addition to a bunch of other big actors in this film.

“I’ve been seeing Madelyn Cline a lot lately and [she’s] been doing good.”

And another said on Reddit: “Really looking forward to this. Seems like it could stem a good few sequels and I’m all for that as long as they keep things fresh.”

A release date for the Knives Out sequel has yet to be confirmed, though Cline’s followers will be happy to know she has plenty more projects in the pipeline.

The cast and crew have recently wrapped production on the second season of Outer Banks, which is hoped to drop on Netflix later this year.

Meanwhile, she’ll next be seen in Blumhouse’s coming-of-age drama Once Upon A Time in Staten Island.

Outer Banks season 1 is available to stream on Netflix.
