DIY SOS' Nick Knowles was spotted grinning on the set of show as he returned to work following a row with the BBC.

The 59-year-old who is best known for fronting popular BBC show DIY SOS, looked every bit the part in a personalised hard hat and hi-vis vest.

Nick was all smiles as he strolled with the DIY SOS crew around the set in Bristol where they were working on a massive project.

He kept his hands in his pockets to stay warm and completed his tradie's look with a black jacket, cargo pants and wellies.

The white hard hat on his had bore his name in capital letter.

It was the first day of a ten day DIY SOS project to transform the Southmead Adventure Playground from a vandal-hit and rundown facility into a top-notch asset for the community

Nick's return to the show comes after BBC chiefs were on the verge of sacking the DIY legend earlier this year in a row over an advert for a cereal.

Nick — who has fronted the hugely popular show for 21 years — landed himself in hot water with executives by playing a builder in a commercial for Shreddies.

The big money deal was at odds with Beeb rules, prompting a major dispute in which he was threatened with the axe if he did not pull out of the campaign.

His future on DIY SOS looked bleak once cereal makers Nestlé refused to scrap the ads — which were already being aired and had been paid for.

But BBC chiefs spared him after The Sun last week focused on his situation and highlighted his popularity with viewers and his charity work.

Talks among the Beeb’s most senior executives, including Director of Television Charlotte Moore, resulted in an agreement to ensure he remains.

A BBC spokeswoman added: “Nick is an important member of the BBC family and we are pleased thats this matter is resolved.

“We will resume filming DIY SOS as soon as it’s safe to do so and Nick will be back on screens in 2022.”

In between season filming DIY SOS, Nick moved over to Channel 5 to host Big House Clearout.

The show helped people by overhauling the way they live by helping them to declutter and then renovating their homes.

If they agreed to part with their clutter, Nick and the country's best designers then went in to remodel their homes.

Nick is dad to Eddie, seven, with ex-wife, Jessica Rose Moor, and is dad to three other children from previous relationships.

The star recently went public with his new girlfriend Katie Dadzie,  who is 27 years his junior.

The Sun revealed how they started dating in August after meeting through their kids’ playgroup.

Nick has been single since 2019 following his split with PR guru Emily Hallinan, 26, after a short-lived romance.
