MASKED Singer fans think they've worked out who Rockhopper is – and their guess is a huge 90s indie star.

Most recently Rockhopper wowed the judges with their performance of Amy Winehouse's Love is a Losing Game.

Davina McCall said: "That really felt like it was so from the heart, it was so beautiful."

Jonathan Ross joked: "I would like to start by saying welcome home, Adele. You've been away too long. I know you've got an album to promote – that explains the penguin suit."

While the judges – including Rita Ora and Mo Gilligan – made guesses such as Zara Larsson, Robin and Jamelia, viewers on Twitter weren't convinced.

One wrote: "Rockhopper is Cerys Matthews."

Another said: "Rockhopper could be Cerys Matthews."

And a third asked: "Could Rockhopper be Cerys Matthews from Catatonia?"

Rockhopper has also performed Higher Love by Whitney Houston and Kygo, as well as La La Land's Another Day of Sun.

Cerys, 52, is a Welsh singer who rose to fame in the last 90s as a member of rock band Catatonia, known for hits including Mulder and Scully.

The group split in 2001 and Cerys later appeared on the 2007 series of I'm a Celebrity, during which she struck up a romance with campmate and actor Mark Bannerman.

Cerys and Mark split four months after their time in the jungle and she married Steve Abbott in 2012. They share children Glenys, Johnny and Red.

She now hosts weekly shows on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 6 Music.
