Dancing with the Stars: Honey Boo Boo performs

Anna ‘Chickadee’ Cardwell and her family were thrown into the spotlight in 2012 after her younger sister Alana Thompson gained prominence on Toddlers and Tiaras.

The family then landed their hit reality series on TLC titled Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.

Although the show came to an end in 2014, the beloved family made sporadic appearances on screens before straying from the spotlight entirely.

Earlier this year, Alana made headlines after revealing her elder sister Anna, 28 was diagnosed with stage four cancer.

The 17-year-old confirmed the concerning reports as she warned people: “Yes, I’m very famous but normal s**t happens to me and my family & y’all need to realize that asap.”

However, their mother Mama June has recently disclosed Anna’s health has brought the family back together.

She revealed they had to put their differences aside to focus on her daughter’s battle and support her young grandchildren.

Mama June also confirmed she was one of the few family members to rally around for Anna and her two children.

The mum of four told MailOnline: “Honestly, the people that have been there for her since she’s been diagnosed is me and Justin, Eldridge and the girls.

“There’s no other family that come up there and sit with her during her treatments.”

Mama June explained: “There is nobody that comes and checks to make sure that she’s good, to make sure that she got everything.

“It’s literally me, Justin, Pumpkin (Lauren Efird), Honey Boo Boo, Jessica. That’s it.”

The 43-year-old also detailed the efforts she and her new husband Justin Stroud make to support Anna.

She shared: “In the weeks that she has chemo, we take her to Atlanta.

“We stay there all week from Monday till Saturday, to make sure that she’s close to the hospital if anything major happens because it is two hours away.

“So we say it there and then we bring her back home. Then that next week is kind of rough for her so we stay in Georgia to make sure she doesn’t need anything.”

According to TMZ, a source revealed Anna was diagnosed with stage four adrenal carcinoma after doctors discovered the cancers in her liver, kidney and lung.
