Sophie Piper was accused of "crying without tears" as partner Connor Durman was booted out of the Love Island villa tonight.

The couple were torn apart tonight after landing at the bottom of the public vote, forcing their fellow Islanders to choose between them.

In the end, they chose to save Sophie, meaning that Connor was brutally dumped.

Sophie, however, decided not to join him and leave the villa with him and later seemed upset when talking to Shaughna.

"Don't cry… oh babe," Shauna told her. "Are you sad because you're going to miss him?"

"It's a s*** situation," Sophie said. "I don't know what to do. I feel like if he got picked he would have left with me. It's just so s***."

However fans were not entirely convinced, with one tweeting: "Sophie acting skills are on top form tonight give the girl an Oscar as if she is thinking twice about leaving #LoveIsland."

While another commenting: "Sophie trying to force a tear out…. #loveisland."

A third joked: "Sophie managing to cry with no tears#LoveIsland."

"Sophie where are your tears at? Worst actress award goes to you #loveisland," another commented.

His departure comes as two new bombshells enter the villa – 21-year-old Demi Jones from Portsmouth and Wallace Wilson, 24, from Inverness.

And hunky personal trainer Wallace has already expressed an interest in Sophie.

Ahead of entering the villa, Wallace said that he had his eye on Paige, Siannise and Sophie.

Could Sophie be swayed so soon after Connor's departure?

Connor and Sophie were long considered the 'power couple' of the South African villa, so Laura Whitmore's announcement that they would be split apart left viewers stunned.

One fan tweeted: "Cliff hanger or what!!…….. My connor has GOT to stay!!"

"Nahhhh how can they leave me on a cliff hanger like that," added another.

A third said: "No more Connor and Sophie! I'm so pleased lol. Glad for Siannise as well she deserves her shot. Nas still needs to go though"
