Lorraine Kelly slams scammers who use her face to sell diet products

Lorraine Kelly made a brief appearance on Wednesday’s instalment of Good Morning Britain to share what was coming up on her ITV talk show.

Hosts Martin Lewis and Susanna Reid had been talking about online scammers which prompted Lorraine to address her own experiences with fraudsters.

She told ITV viewers “only yesterday” her face was being used to promote a “ridiculous losing weight” product she’s never endorsed.

Lorraine said she does not have Facebook, which is the platform the scammers used, and was told about the “nonsense” by a contact.

The Scottish broadcaster fumed: “It’s infuriating, isn’t it? So please, please, please, do not fall for the scammers.”

Susanna interjected: “You do not endorse weight loss products?”

“No, I do not,” Lorraine insisted after venting her fury about the situation.

Lorraine’s comments come months after another company used her image to promote diet pills without her consent.

Susanna then revealed her face had been used to endorse diet pills as well, adding: “Mine is Keto pills, I get people, I would imagine who would have been able to see through the scam, contacting me saying, ‘I’m desperate to lose weight, do your pills work?’

“I do not endorse, sell, make, manufacture or back any pills for losing weight.”

Her Good Morning Britain co-host Martin also opened up about a similar experience of his own with a cryptocurrency scam.

When contacted by someone about a cryptocurrency advert, Martin told them: “No, it’s a scam advert, I promise you. I don’t talk about those cryptocurrencies.”

“These people are very clever and vicious,” Martin, whose name has been mentioned in more than 400 scam-related crimes, concluded.

According to data from Action Fraud, this resulted in a “collective financial loss of almost £6 million”.

Martin sued Facebook after learning more than 1,000 adverts featuring his name appeared on the social media site.

Lorraine airs on weekdays at 9am and Good Morning Britain airs on weekdays between 6am and 9am.
