Fans of Law & Order: SVU can’t wait for season 22 to get underway. With the premiere literally days away, Ice-T recently posted an exciting update with information that fans will appreciate. Even with the coronavirus (COVID-19) in our midst, that hasn’t stopped filming from going ahead in a safe way.
When does season 22 of ‘Law & Order: SVU’ premiere?
Fans won’t have to wait too much longer for their favorite series to return. SVU will come back to our television screens on Thursday, November 12, at 9 p.m. E.S.T. But what can fans expect to see play out in this new season?
A fan tweeted a question about whether the show would return starting with Sir Toby’s (Ian McShane) trial, and apparently it won’t. According to showrunner Warren Leight, the series will center around what’s been happening in the world.
“I can answer this… no it won’t,” Leight said on Twitter. “A lot has happened since we shut down, in New York, and in our country. First few eps will see our squad grappling with many of the losses and changes and challenges we’re all going through at this moment.”
Ice-T gives an exciting update on filming for season 22
Ice-T, who plays Sergeant Odafin “Fin” Tutuola, recently shared an exciting update on his social media pages. He’s on set filming for SVU, and of course he’s wearing a mask. He reveals that they are already working on filming the fifth episode for season 22, which will bring some relief for fans to know.
“In other news, more important news, here we are, SVU,” Ice-T reveals on Twitter. “We are working on our fifth episode. We’re about to shoot the live open.”
He shows a camera and some equipment being used in the filming process. He also points the camera to where the actors stand on marks on the ground.
“There’s Jamie on her mark,” Ice-T says as the camera points at Jamie Gray Hyder, who plays Detective Kat Azar Tamin. She’s wearing a facial covering as well, and it looks like everyone is being really careful with the new protocols in place for the coronavirus (COVID-19).
‘SVU’ has a ‘COVID guy’
Ice-T then turns the camera to their “COVID guy,” who he says is “making sure” that they’re “safe.” He’s also wearing a mark, and Ice-T tells him to explain to the camera what he does on set.
“I go around making sure people stay the appropriate distance apart. Keep their mask on,” the man says.
“It’s a job,” Ice-T comments.
“Don’t violate the rules,” the man continues explaining about his job.
“This is a job,” Ice-T remarks. He also mentions that the man takes people’s temperatures on their heads as well.
“That’s how we getting five episodes in, alright?” Ice-T explains. With a final message to the camera, Ice-T adds, “Ya’ll be safe too. COVID is real. Don’t get caught up out there.”
It looks like filming is really rolling for the new season. Fans will get to catch up with all their favorite characters in the series very soon.
