Loose Women star Kaye Adams has appeared on the ITV show today (September 26) and revealed she's suffered her first Strictly Come Dancing injury saying Saturday night was way "out of her comfort zone."
The presenter, 59, and her professional partner Kai Widdrington, 27, took on the tango to Voulez-Vous by Abba during Saturday night’s (September 24) first live show where a couple of technical errors saw them land in the bottom half of the leaderboard.
Appearing on Loose Women today (September 26), Kaye chatted to her co-hosts including Ruth Langsford, who appeared on the BBC One show back in 2017.
When watching the clip of her dance Kaye said: “This is the first time I have seen (the footage) which is why I am reacting like this. I know people say ‘out of my comfort zone’ very lightly. But boy, you know me girls, that was so far out of my comfort zone it was unbelievable."
She added: “As you know Ruth, there just comes a moment where you either lock yourself in the bathroom or you get out there and do it. It is almost as simple as that. But oh my God, there are so many conflicting thoughts going through your head when you are actually."
She continued: “You told me Ruth, we had a lovely chat when I had just signed up, and I was walking my dog, I was in the park. I remember, we chatted for ages and you were telling me it all.
“I was taking it in but it is not until you have experience it that you think, ‘That is what Ruth was talking about’.”
Janet Street-Porter then asked her: "What part of your body is aching the most now?" to which Kaye quickly replied: "My brain!"
She then said: "It is actually my brain… I've got a wee groin strain but you don't wanna hear about that, TMI!"
She continued: "f you've never ever danced before, it is trying to make your body respond to these messages from your brain that it's just not used to! I've never been sending these messages, I've never been able to co-ordinate movement really!"
On a break from rehearsals she concluded: "It is a mental challenge I would say more than everything else, and then you've got the emotional challenge on top of it which is: 'Do I look like a 59-year-old sack of potatoes?' which was going through my head!"
The Loose Women ladies were quick to reassure her before asking her about her professional partner Kai. Kaye said: "He is the most brilliant teacher. He is such a mature guy, he's 27, he is so patient."
Strictly Come Dancing star Rhys Stephenson, who took part in last year's series of the glamorous Saturday night show, has revealed that contestants have only six chances to rehearse in the ballroom before going under the bright lights of live TV.
Rhys, 28, exclusively told OK!:"We have dress rehearsals and we do have rehearsals again on the ballroom floor so that the camera people can see what shots they'll want to use on the night. Because that's how they know where to go in the lives."
But he added: "I do I think what would will shock people is knowing that by the time we've done it live on the television, we've actually danced it about six times on the ballroom – which I never knew. It's always seemed like once you go on it's the first time you've ever done it."
Actor Will Mellor is already tipped to be a favourite to go on and lift the Glitterball trophy as winner of Strictly Come Dancing for 2022 after topping the leaderboard and wowing judges and fans in week one of the show.
Betfair have revealed Will’s odds of winning the show have been slashed to 6/4 from 5/1, making him the new favourite to win the show after an impressive opening week score of 34.
