Talking to Daily Star at a recent round table event, the 32 year old said: "She is beyond strict but I love it!

"I wanted someone who was going to be strict, I wanted someone who was going to put me in my place and tell me what's wrong, what's right.

"Double early all the time, like I have to be an hour or two early every time before skating with the off ice training we do, she's really putting me through it," he explained.

He added: "But I'm really happy to have Vanessa because she's a really nice girl inside and out. It's been great working with her."

When talking openly about whether he was nervous to fall on the ice or drop Vanessa while skating, the reality star admitted that his nerves were gradually disappearing.

He said "I was at the start, at the start of the journey I was like 'oh I don't want to drop you' but now it's like yeah whatever, let's do it man, let's take risks.

"Where obviously I care about Vanessa because she's a lovely girl, I don't want to drop her. But she's used to being dropped."

Referring to contestant Nile Wilson, who is a former British artistic gymnast, Joey added: "Nile's a gymnast he knows how to fall, I know how to fall now, you learn how to fall and how to be dropped."

"I was afraid of dropping her at the start and I still am afraid and I won't drop her but it's the fear of it could definitely happen you know.

"I always have to make sure that I'm comfortable and I'm confident with all the crazy moves I'm trying to pull off."

Joey along with Love Island winner Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu, former EastEnders star Patsy Palmer and Liberty X's Michelle will be among the first set of celebs to take on the ice this Sunday.
