More than two decades ago, one film altered the course of teen movies forever. The film was so beloved it spawned not one but three sequels. American Pie starred actors such as Jason Biggs, Alyson Hannigan, Natasha Lyonne, and Sean William Scott. Biggs revealed in a 2019 reunion that he had a “little crush” on Hannigan.

Biggs played Jim in American Pie. The movie follows a group of teenagers from the fictional East Great Falls, Michigan, who make a pact to lose their virginity before graduating high school. What follows is a series of hilarious and sometimes humiliating sexual encounters.
American Pie was a commercial success grossing $235 million at the box office against an $11 million budget. It also garnered three sequels.
Hannigan played Michelle, Jim’s love interest in the film. While they oozed chemistry on-screen, Biggs might have been mirroring reality. In a 2019 reunion hosted by Entertainment Tonight, the actor explained.
While none of the cast members remembered hooking up, some recalled having crushes on their colleagues. Biggs told host Kevin Frazier he “had a little crush on Alyson.” Hanigan was taken aback by the revelation exclaiming, “You did?!” Their characters in the movie end up together despite a rollercoaster of events. But Biggs never acted on his feelings for his castmate.
Jason Biggs and Alyson Hannigan went on to have impressive careers
Before her appearance on American Pie, Hannigan starred in the cult series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She played Willow Rosenberg, the witch friend of the titular character. The role helped her gain recognition and landed her more movie gigs.
She reprised her role in American Pie’s sequel in 2001 and appeared in American Wedding in 2003. Following Buffy, Hannigan landed another major TV job. She portrayed Lily Aldrin in the widely popular sitcom How I Met Your Mother, a role she held until the series ended in 2014.
Like Hannigan, Biggs began acting as a child. American Pie was his breakout role, but before it, he received a Daytime Emmy nod for As the World Turns. In addition to the American Pie franchise, Biggs appeared in films like Saving Silverman and Jersey Girl.
Though his small-screen offerings primarily consist of guest appearances, he landed a role in the popular Netflix dramedy Orange Is the New Black. In 2022, he began an arc on Law & Order: SVU as Det. Andy Parlato-Goldstein.
Who did Jason Biggs and Alyson Hannigan end up with?
Biggs and Hannigan didn’t date. But they ended up in stable relationships. Biggs got engaged to Jenny Mollen, his My Best Friend’s Girl co-star, in January 2008. The pair married in April of that year and share two children, Sid, born in 2014, and Lazlo, born in 2017.
Hannigan also married a co-star. She met Alexis Denisof when he began portraying Wesley Wyndham-Pryce on Buffy (and later, the spinoff series Angel). The pair tied the knot in 2003 and have two daughters, Satyana Marie and Keeva Jane.
Biggs and Hannigan remained friends following American Pie. In fact, she guest-starred in Outmatched, Biggs’ short-lived sitcom, in 2020.
