Lorraine Kelly invited royal editor Russell Myers onto Monday’s instalment of her self-titled show to discuss the latest news about the Royal Family. During their conversation on the ITV show, they talked about how Meghan Markle ran a lifestyle blog called The Tig before she married Prince Harry. Speculation has been mounting about Meghan reviving her lifestyle blog, but slammed the idea.

Lorraine began: “Now before she met Harry, she had her own lifestyle blog and there is talk of that may be coming back.”

Russell replied: “There is, and it’s interesting because before they were the king and queen of Instagram, with millions and millions of followers, she had a very popular lifestyle blog called The Tig and this was named after her favourite wine.

“It was all about beauty tips and recipes and her thoughts on recipes and whatnot, but it was put to the wayside after she became a  member of the Royal Family and then there’s potential that she’s unearthing it.

When he asked Lorraine if it could be another “string added to their bow,” she quipped: “I hope not.”

Russell explained Meghan has allegedly applied to reactivate the trademark name of her blog in Los Angeles.

As well as posting updates about recipes and advice, the Duchess of Sussex also gushed about her parents.

The most-read post on her blog was called How To Be Both in which she offered her thoughts on combining celebrity life with “giving back” to others.

Meghan shut down the blog in 2017 months before becoming engaged to Prince Harry.

Lorraine and Russell also discussed the Sussexes releasing a statement through their Archewell Foundation relaying their “concerns” to Spotify about COVID-19 misinformation.

Russell said: “Joe Rogan is a huge broadcaster in the US and he’s got the most popular podcast in the world and Spotify paid him $100million to come over and be exclusively on their platform.

“He gets the weird and wonderful people in politics and from all sorts of life, but Harry and Meghan have said they have expressed concerns about his potential anti-vax views.

“Joe Rogan hasn’t said he’s an anti-vaxxer, he’s simply said it’s questionable whether young people for fit people should be getting the vaccine.

“Harry and Meghan have said they express their concerns about real consequences of COVID-19 misinformation on its platform.”

Top artists, including Neil Young and Joni Mitchell, have pulled songs from the streaming giant in protest.

Russell explained the “star power of Harry and Meghan does work” because Spotify’s co-found Daniel Ek has made a statement following their criticism.

The royal commentator added: “It’s a win for them, although they haven’t done too much for their money with Spotify at the moment.

“It’s been over a year since we last heard from them,” he added.

The Sussexes’ content deal with Spotify is worth an estimated £18million, and Russell wondered if the streaming giant will have to “get involved to give them a helping hand” with their podcast.

Lorraine interjected: “Or it might be that it’s the end of it, who knows?”

In a blog post, Spotify co-founder Daniel said: “We have an obligation to do more to provide balance and access to widely-accepted information from the medical and scientific communities guiding us through this unprecedented time”.

Lorraine continues weekdays at 9am on ITV.
