ITV has dropped the first look at their upcoming new singing competition The Masked Singer and it looks every bit as bonkers as we'd hoped.

Hosted by Joel Dommett, the panel for "TV's greatest guessing game" is composed of Jonathan Ross, Davina McCall, Rita Ora and Ken Jeong, and it sees 12 celebrities attempt to be crowned the winner.

The catch? They remain masked until they are voted out meaning the hosts and the public are judging simply on their stage performance – not necessarily their singing.

ITV has also revealed the first look at eight characters – Unicorn, Fox, Monster, Chameleon, Daisy, Octopus, Duck and Queen Bee.

The singing competition is described as a "surreal and surprising guessing game that will see 12 famous faces compete to pull off the best performance, with their identity elaborately and imaginatively concealed behind the mask".

The show has taken the US by storm with star judges Nicole Scherzinger, Ken Jeong, Robin Thicke and Jenny McCarthy failing to guess eliminated singerrs such as Kelly Osbourne and Patti LaBelle.

Kelly, 35, got the least number of votes from the public on November 13 following her rendition of 5 Seconds Of Summer's Youngblood, prompting her to get the boot from the competition.

The following week The Masked Singer unveiled Flower's identity as Patti after she sang Alone by Heart.

Jenny McCarthy-Walhberg had also suggested the LaBelle was underneath the costume, however Ken Jeong reckoned Icelandic singer Bjork was the singer's identity.

"I knew it!" exclaimed Nick Cannon. He revealed that Patti is god-mother to his twins – shared with Mariah Carey – as well as being the god-mother of soul.

"I knew that you knew," joked LaBelle, 75, as she explained that her voice is so distinctive that she couldn't keep her identity secret from the panel.

It is now airing its second season after the first season saw The Monster/rapper T-Pain) declared the winner, with Peacock/singer Donny Osmond coming in second.
