Claire King has settled the confusion of Emmerdale fans by explaining how co-star William Ash's character knew that her character Kim Tate killed her ex Frank.

Caleb arrived to the Dales last year and was revealed as Frank's long-lost son, having grown up in a children's home after his mother Faith Dingle gave him away.

Frank made his first appearance on the soap in 1989 and was a regular character for eight years before dying of a heart attack in an hour-long special, which was prefaced by a blazing row with Kim – who then left him to die.

Despite the scene only involving the two characters, Caleb appeared to know many details of what went on at the time when he made his arrival to the soap – leaving fans to wonder how he knew.

Talking this week, actress Claire confirmed that her character had told a mystery character about the incident, with the information then trickling back to Caleb.

"He knows the whole back story as well, about Kim and Frank and how she basically stood over him. Kim opened her gob to someone, you see," she explained, as reported by The Mirror.

While it appears that Frank never knew his son, Caleb has been targeting Kim, believing that she stole his dad's fortune too as he seeks revenge.

His plan is underway too, after viewers saw Caleb hack into Kim's bank accounts and find out her passwords in episodes aired earlier this week – hoping to swindle her out of millions

While the extent of Caleb’s financial woes are currently unknown, as regular viewers will know, Caleb had been hoping to fix all his money problems by claiming Kim’s fortune.

Co-star Lewis Cope has teased further drama ahead in the dales over the coming days, after Home Farm nanny Nicky backed out of a plan to marry Gabby Thomas amid an his plan to con Kim Tate.

While there is a big whodunnit plot kicking off in the soap as Caleb is shoved off the side of a ravine. But who pushed him?

One tense afternoon, everyone unites against Caleb during a tense altercation in the pub. Caleb continues to make matters worse for himself by insulting everyone and eventually Chas is forced to kick him out.

That evening, someone rushes up behind Caleb and pushes him off the woodland ridge, was it Cain, Leyla, Will, Mack or someone else entirely? And will Caleb survive?
