The drama in Emmerdale has been building as the spotlight has be shone on David (played by Matthew Wolfenden) in light of the attack on Maya (Louisa Clein).

However, in last night’s episode he was cleared of any wrongdoing after Maya confirmed it was a woman who had attacked her.

All eyes had been on David after Maya’s grooming of his son Jacob (Joe-Warren Plant), but now it is unclear who had attacked.

Next week on the ITV soap, she is set to be attacked again and this time she will be rescued by none other than Jacob.

He is set to be furious when he sees live footage on Noah Dingle’s (Jack Downham) phone of Maya being confronted by a group of school girls.

Angered, he will go to save Maya from her attackers and be reunited with the teacher he is meant to be avoiding.

Fearing the worst, she begs him to go before anyone sees them together.

She heads off to her car to get away quickly but Jacob follows her and it is not long before she relents and invites him into the car.

Then, as Maya’s resistance weakens, the pair kiss and embrace in scenes that could prove costly in Maya’s upcoming court appearance.

In court the next day, could she have destroy her case?

Next week will also see Jacob determined to rebuff his dad David’s attempts to reconcile as David heads to therapy to deal with the issues surrounding Jacob’s grooming.

He blames himself for what has happened to Jacob and is dreading the outcome of Maya’s court appearance.

Tracy Metcalfe (Amy Walsh) could be to blame for the attack on Maya last week.

Returning to his father’s house after his visit to Maya in hospital, David gave Leyla Harding (Roxy Shahidi), Tracy and Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell) an update.

And it was when the camera panned to Tracy who turned to Leyla with a very suspicious look on her face.

David was originally blamed for attacking Maya, but with the onus now on a woman, could it have been Tracy?

There is the suggestion the B&B worker had organised the attack and framed her estranged husband for it in a savage revenge twist.

Meanwhile, Graham Foster’s (Andrew Scarborough) affair with newcomer Andrea Tate (Anna Nightingale) could set to be revealed.

Graham becomes unnerved by Andrea’s presence and it becomes clear the pair are hiding a secret connection as the newcomer will beg the shady character not to reveal their secret past.

Viewers will be left wondering how exactly the characters’ lives are entwined and actress Anna Nightingale has recently teased the drama to come for Andrea and Graham.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV.
