After a few days of waiting, fans finally learned about the second chapter to the Mandalorian’s story. Will our protagonist save the baby? What character do Star Wars fans think the baby actually is? Here’s what you might’ve missed from episode two of The Mandalorian.
This article contains major spoilers from Disney Plus’ series, The Mandalorian!
The Mandalorian decides not to kill the baby
Our story opens on the Mandalorian and his “bounty” on their way back to his ship. The two are walking side by side when they hear rustling off in the distance. Two other bounty hunters attack but are quickly killed by The Mandalorian. They had a tracker for the baby, meaning that there are other people out to get him. The Mandalorian will have to work extra hard to keep him safe.
Later that night, the Mandalorian is trying to tend to a wound that happened when he fought the other bounty hunters. Suddenly, the baby is out of his container, trying to touch the wound. The Mandalorian puts him back, but he just comes out again, trying to touch his arm. The Mandalorian puts him back a second time and shuts the top.
The next morning, our protagonist finally makes it to his ship, which is being ransacked by Jawas. He kills a few of them, but they close up their building and speed out of there. Being that they stole a lot of parts, the Mandalorian jumps onboard and the baby follows after them on the ground. He manages to climb to the top of the building put is shot off by Jawas. With nowhere else to go, the Mandalorians heads back to see the man who helped him during the last episode.
The Mandalorian has to get an egg for the Jawas
Once he finds the helpful man from last episode, the Mandalorian explains that his ship has been destroyed. The Jawas stole almost everything and he’s stuck on the planet with the child. The man says that the Jawas take, but they don’t destroy, so he could potentially get it back from them with a trade. He will take them to the Jawas.
The next morning, the group makes it to the Jawa camp. They seem to like the man but are rightfully very scared of the Mandalorian. They sit down to discuss a trade. The only thing the Jawas want is an “egg.” Reluctantly, the Mandalorian agrees to get it.
Our warrior heads to this cave, accompanied by the baby. He heads inside, online to be attacked by a mud creature with a giant horn. When the two emerge, from the cave, it looks like the Mandalorian is losing. His armor is severely bent and he lost his biggest weapon. As the animal is about to charge for a final time and make its kill, something stops it in its tracks.
The Mudhorn starts to float. It’s the baby, who is using the force. The Mandalorian is completely shocked but has enough time to stab the creature in its throat. The baby passes out from exhaustion, as the Mandalorian heads into the cave and takes the egg.
Could the baby actually be Yoda?
The Mandalorian heads back to the Jawas with the egg and the child. As promised, the Jawas give him back all of his parts. On the way back to his ship, he explains to the man what happened and neither of them fully understand.
The two work side by side to repair the warrior’s ship. When it’s finally working again, the Mandalorian says he will return with a portion of the reward for the man. He refuses. The Mandalorian offers him a job on his ship, where they would work together. He refuses. Then, the Mandalorian offers him his thanks. One of the last things viewers see is the baby wake up as the two head off into space.
