With 23 Grand Slams under her belt, Serena Williams seems to have more titles than anyone could ever need. But could she be adding an entirely new title to her repertoire and become godmother to royal baby Archie
Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor?

Famous Friendship

Williams and Markle first met back in 2010 at Superbowl party and immediately hit it off. They kept in close contact over the years and bonded over leading lives in the public eye. They are there for each other in times of intense scrutiny and have openly shown their support for one another. Williams was of course in attendance at Markle’s highly-publicized wedding to Prince Harry last year. When Wiliams announced that she was pregnant, Markle was one of the first to state that she would be an amazing mom. The Duchess of Sussex declared that “she is so attuned to balancing strength and sensitivity” which are amazing character traits for a mother to have.

Williams has also been extremely supportive of Markle throughout her entire journey into motherhood. In fact, the 37-year-old tennis legend hosted Markle’s baby shower a few months back. The star-studded event took place at the Grand Penthouse of the Mark Hotel and boasted a small but prestigious guest list from Amal Clooney to Gayle King. Williams recently opened up about how difficult the event was to execute. “Planning something like that takes a lot of effort. I’m a perfectionist, so I’m like, ‘Let’s make it perfect.” Williams said. It’s great to see how much effort she put into making baby Archie’s shower a success.

Pics or it didn’t happen

Though Meghan Markle and Prince Harry welcomed baby Archie into the world only three short weeks ago, the newborn has already met some of the world’s most famous faces. Williams was added to the list of VIP’s who have met the royal baby last week when she stopped over in London on her way to the French Open. Accompanying Williams was her husband, Alexis Ohanian Sr. and her one-year-old daughter, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. Though the tennis champ didn’t post a picture of the baby, she did post a stunning picture of herself sporting an outfit from her personal fashion line. Because of the grandiose background of the picture, many people are speculating that the image was actually taken somewhere inside Windsor.

Godparents

While nothing has been confirmed, we think Williams would make an excellent godmother to baby Archie if the offer is extended. The greatest athlete of all time clearly shows a deep love for her own daughter and her granddaughter, the infamous Qai Qai. We’re sure that the famous tennis player brings the same level of dedication to parenting as she does to the tennis courts.

But who else is in the running to be Archie’s godmother? Another viable contender is Jessica Mulroney, a Canadian stylist, and Markle’s long-time best friend. But, no matter who Prince Harry and Markle choose to be the godparents of their first-born child, we’re happy to see that baby Archie will be surrounded by powerful, strong-minded people who will love and support him.
