Netflix series Dark has now sadly finished for good, bowing out with a game-changing final outing. The show consisted of three intertwined seasons which formed a rich, textured story spanning multiple time periods and worlds. Some fans have gone back to watch the previous series of the show and want to know the identity of the character brutally murdered by Young Noah (played by Max Schimmelpfennig).

Who did Young Noah kill in Dark season 2?

WARNING: This article contains spoilers from all seasons of Dark

Season two opened with a shocking scene which saw Young Noah and a mysterious man digging in the Widen Caves to create the tunnels allowing time travel.

Both men took a rest and Young Noah asked his companion whether he’d lost his faith in the Sic Mundus prophecy.

In response, the man wryly told him: “I believe in the irony of date” and seemed to doubt in Adam’s (Dietrich Hollinderbäumer) promise of paradise.

Young Noah was left perplexed, but the man seemed to realise his death had arrived.

He told Young Noah: “I’ve waited a long time for this moment. It’s interesting that it’s you.”

The man then took a seat with his back to Young Noah, who swiftly murdered him with a pickaxe he’d used in the cave.

There appeared to be little hesitation as Young Noah carried out the deed and the sickening moment wasn’t revisited in the rest of season two.

However, season three revealed the identity of the man Young Noah had killed with the truth being even more disturbing than viewers could have possibly imagined.

Young Noah murdered his father Bartosz Tiedemann (Roman Knizka) because he was invested in Adam’s words suggesting they would all reach paradise if his plans weren’t thwarted.

From Bartosz’s last words, he always knew his death would come at some point and this was just one event which had to play out as part of the cycle.

Young Noah, too, seemed to realise killing his father was part of the recurring pattern of events in the cycles.

Bartosz and his wife Silja Tiedemann (Lea van Acken) had two children together Hanno/Noah and Agnes Nielsen (Antje Traue).

Dark season 3 explained: Who is Hanno in Dark? [EXPLAINER]

This isn’t the first incident of family members killing each other after Helene Albers (Katharina Spiering) murdered her daughter from the future Katharina Nielsen (played by Jördis Triebel).

While Future Jonas (Andreas Pietschmann) murdered his mother Hannah Kahnwald (Maja Schöne) after she travelled back in time to be with him.

As season three revealed though, Adam was wrong in his belief he could break the cycle and it was only from the outside the knot could be undone.

In the end, it was Jonas Kahnwald (Louis Hofmann) and Martha Nielsen (Lisa Vicari) who ended the knot by travelling to the Origin World and changing events.

Speaking to Indiewire, co-creator Jantje Friese said: “Our idea was always to do Greek tragedy below it even though it’s a sci-fi show, a mystery show, in its core, it’s really about human relationships and how f***ed up they can be.”

Her words suggest there would be much death between family members as is characteristic in Greek tragedies.

She went on to explain how the writers had to establish the rules of time travel early on in the show and put in the “groundwork”.

Friese explained: “We’re hinting at that in the first season all the time that it’s a circle. Everything happens constantly in loops.

“I just felt that was such a multilayered story. I put a lot of thought into it: What kind of information and when do you explain certain rules? How much room do you give for people trying to figure it out and when do you push them into the right direction? What kind of trigger words do you use? What kind of symbols do you use?

“There are a lot of symbols throughout, a lot of referencing systems in terms of religion, mythology.”
