Joe Swash will perform in honour of his late dad on Dancing on Ice tomorrow night.

The TV star was just 12 when beloved Ricky died from sudden arrhythmic death syndrome.

The tribute will see him perform an emotional skate to Simply Red hit Stars.

Joe, 38, said: “This song holds a real special part in my heart because it was my mum and dad’s song. We used to go on these long holidays to France. We used to put the caravan on the back of the car and my mum and my dad used to listen to Simply Red constantly so that music really brings back memories of childhood.

“It was played at his funeral. The song has sort of changed. Now every time my mum plays it, it brings back sad memories, so I want to kind of give it back to her and make a new memory to the song.”

Ricky never got to see Joe become one of TV’s most popular stars on shows including EastEnders and I’m A Celebrity.

He added: “I miss my dad every day. So much. I’d love to show him so many things that I’ve done and I’ve experienced that I could have shared with him.”

Other contestants still competing include Perri Kiely, Libby Clegg and Ben Hanlin.

The semi-final is tomorrow at 6pm on ITV.
