CORONATION Street's Catherine Tyldesley says she WILL return to the ITV soap as Eva Price.

The 35-year-old appeared on the Cobbles from 2011 until her departure last year.

Eva left Weatherfield with her daughter Susie, but speaking to The Sunday People, Catherine said she would be open to returning.

She said: "I’d go back if the time was right and storyline was right.”

Catherine – who will next be seen in ITV's Scarborough alongside Jason Manford – also revealed how she's glad she didn't find fame until her late 20s on the show.

She explained: "I was very lucky. It’s a lot harder when you’re younger to ignore the trolls and negative comments.

“They can tear you to pieces. It can be heartbreaking if you’re not confident.”

As well as her acting work, Catherine has also tried her hand at a singing career, and revealed she would like to follow in the footsteps of Sheridan Smith, 37, who has had success on both stage and screen.

She said: "You never know which way it’s going to go, I just hoped casting directors would remember me and I have a great agent which is half the battle.

“I wanted variety and to do theatre, film, like Sheridan Smith, she ticked every box, If I get chance to experience that, that’s great.”

Catherine, who is also a mum to four-year-old son Archie with husband Tom Pitfield, opened up to the outlet about working on Scarborough, a new six-part sitcom by Benidorm writer Darren Litten.

She said: "It’s one of my favourite ever jobs, it’s very nostalgic.

"Scarborough is shown in its true charming light, the wonderful people you get there – it’s a very welcoming place.”

Of working with comedian Jason,  38, she added: "He’s hysterical without even trying. Working with him was a joy.

"People say comedians make the best actors as they’re so observant. He pulls it out the bag.”
