City on the Hill season two is eagerly awaited by fans of the political drama. The show originally aired back in 2019 and viewers have been waiting since to find to when it could be returning to screens. Showtime has confirmed its return and Express.co.uk has all you need to know about the new outing, including when it might be released.

When will City on a Hill season 2 be released?

Showtime has not yet confirmed when City on a Hill will begin airing on Showtime.

Season one premiered on June 16, 2019 on the channel and the first season was made available to watch in September 2019 on Sky Atlantic in the UK.

However, coronavirus COVID-19 put a halt on the show’s production so it is not yet clear when it will be released.

Who is in the cast of City on a Hill season 2?

In season two it is expected that Bacon will be back leading the cast as corrupt FBI agent Jackie Rohr.

Aldis Hodge is also expected to return as District Attorney Decourcy Ward who teams up with Rohr to take on criminals.

Alongside this, Jonathan Tucker is expected to be back as Frankie Ryan, Mark O’Brien as Jimmy Ryan and Amanda Clayton as Cathy Ryan.

There are some big names in the recurring cast of season one but it is unsure whether they will be coming back for a second series.

This includes Rory Culkin as Clay Roach, Cathy Moriarty as Ma Ryan and Michaela McManus as FBI Agent Sarah Rhodes.

Deadline has also reported how season one star Matthew Del Negro has now been promoted to regular on the show.

What is the plot of City on a Hill season 2?

The first season of the show was set in the early 1990s in Boston when criminals were emboldened to “take to the street” by corrupt law enforcement.

Based on the original idea by Ben Affleck and Charlie MacLean, the story follows what happened when this criminal activity suddenly changed.

Called the “Boston Miracle”, the change was ignited when District Attorney Decourcy Ward (played by Aldis Hodge) forms an unlikely alliance with Jackie Rohr (Kevin Bacon).

Together, the pair take on a family of armoured car robbers from Charlestown.

The clip sees Bacon and Hodge back in action to clean up the city of Boston.

As well as this, it gives a glimpse at more tension as the pair work together.
