Kaley Cuoco is best known for her role as Penny Hofstadter in the CBS sitcom, Big Bang Theory. After the show ended in 2019, she joined the cast of HBO’s The Flight Attendant and as fans await season two, Kaley revealed a big change she had to make and why.
Kaley was almost unrecognisable to fans who loved her performance in the Big Bang Theory.
On the sitcom, she played the easy-going aspiring actress turned sales representative who had a thing for pop culture.
The complete opposite to her new HBO role where she portrays Cassie Bowden a careless Flight Attendant who binge drinks and parties with the passengers.
This ended up being a complete disaster when she woke up to Alex Sokolov’s (Michiel Huisman) dead body with no recollection of what happened the night before.
After meeting each other on the flight to Bangkok, the two hit it off and engaged in a steamy night full of non-stop drinking.
When Cassie woke up to his dead body and she panicked, tidied up before heading back to the airport for the United States.
However, as she landed authorities were able to track her down and interrogate her about what happened, thankfully she had the help of her lawyer best friend Annie Mouradian (Zosia Mamet).
This forced Cassie to look inwards to tackle the root issue of her abuse of alcohol which stemmed from her childhood.
This action-packed series was based on a novel of the same name written by Chris Bohjalian.
The gripping book was published in 2018 and entailed more of a suspenseful plotline than the on-screen adaptation.
Kaley recently spoke about the difference between the two in an interview with goldderby.com.
When it came to adapting the novel she opened up about the changes she made to the miniseries and why.

Kaley stated she felt like she needed to bring her self-proclaimed “Cuoco-isms” to the plotline.
After confessing the novel was ‘very dark’ she explained: “we’ve got to bring some ridiculousness to it and make it a little more cat-and-mouse.”
As a result of the changes the actress made, Flight Attendant became a light comedy-drama, different from its original suspenseful and thrilling theme.
Kaley added: “You’re supposed to feel all the things.”
One major trait which remained the same was Cassie’s abuse of alcohol and the hallucinations she was coming to terms with.
After his death, Alex would often appear to her, questioning her motivations and suggesting she remembers more about what happened than she thinks.
He also helped her trace her alcoholism back to her father, who was an abusive alcoholic.
HBO recently confirmed season two of the Flight Attendant would go into production, so it’s safe to say viewers can expect a 2022 release.
