So who was really to blame for the Below Deck Sailing Yacht “coffee gate?” Chief stew Daisy Kelliher said first mate Gary King’s fight with her over deckhand Kelsie Goglia getting coffee for the guest was unwarranted. And he lashed out because he was stressed out over being down a deckhand.

Kelliher and King got into a fight toward the end of the last Below Deck Sailing Yacht episode when some of Goglia’s chores on deck weren’t met and she was the only crew member who was working at the time. A guest got up earlier than stew Gabriela Barragan’s shift and asked Goglia for coffee. While she was getting coffee for the guest, King arrived on deck and noticed many of the overnight tasks were not completed.

Kelsie  was slow on the job on ‘Below Deck’, Daisy said

Kelliher said King’s attack on her was baseless. “He was pissed off at the night jobs and I’m sorry but it’s Gary’s kind of go-to to blame me,” Kelliher said on her Instagram Pita Party. “I felt like it happened last season. I felt like it happened this season. And I think, to be honest, I love Kelsie she was like one of my favorite crew members.”

“But I think it was Kelsie’s fault,” Kelliher added. “Kelsie was slow. It was a running theme. She knows, and we spoke about it. But she didn’t have the urgency that superyachting requires. She got better during the season, but it was an issue. And the issue was that Kelsie was slow at doing her jobs.”

Gary picked a fight with Daisy on ‘Below Deck’ instead of talking to Kelsie

Rather than address the speed on deck, King got into a fight with Kelliher on Below Deck. “I think sometimes Gary shies away from conflict just like I do,” she admitted. “And I think instead of sitting Kelsie down and talking to her, it was easy to blame me. It was easy to make it my problem. But no, the deck crew is 100% more than capable of making a coffee. It is just as much their job to look after the guests on it as it is ours.”

“Often I’ve helped wash down the boat,” Kelliher added. “I’ve helped carry their little dinghies around. I’ve done watch when they needed to go to the bathroom and I’ve helped with paddleboards. You know, I’ve done all things that the deck crew does as well and we’re a team. Kelsie should be making a coffee, and if she felt that she wasn’t getting her jobs done, knocking on my door and say, ‘Yo, Daisy there’s some guests are up. I’m a bit busy, do you mind?’ I would have happily have gotten up out and helped out.”

‘Below Deck’ producers wanted to call the moment ‘coffee gate’

Kelliher joked about the fight over coffee earlier this season when she chatted with Alli Dore on Instagram Live.

“We just wanted to do a good job and we crash heads loads this season,” she said. “We saw each other after Disneyland, we went to Disneyland together.”

“And we got into an argument about something that happened during the show,” she laughed. “We got into a full-blown argument at the studio. I was like, I can’t believe this is happening. Like in front of everyone. And I was like, I cannot believe this is happening about bloody coffee that happened during the show.”

She then added that producers referred to the fight as coffee gate, “Coffeegate,” Kelliher joked. “It will be in the season. I was like you are not calling it coffee gate. They’re like, yeah we are.”
