Alison Hammond has warned people not to “slip the tongue in” for festive kisses under the mistletoe this Christmas as Covid-19 fears grow.
Dermot O’ Leary and the 46-year-old broadcaster joined ITV fans for Friday’s instalment of This Morning and the pair couldn’t help but discuss the government’s advice to “kiss cautiously” this year.
The pair welcomed Made In Chelsea star Georgia Toffolo onto the show as they shared their views on the controversial topic while people enjoy the countdown to the festive celebrations.
The blonde bombshell couldn’t help but laugh at health minister Sajid Javid’s seasonal advice as she suggested viewers go ahead and snog without fear for the festive celebrations.
She started the discussion with: “Let’s start off with our first with our first story which is; can we kiss under the mistletoe this year? Of course, we can. Alison Hammond for Prime Minister that’s what I say.
The show then shares an excerpt from Health Secretary Sajid Javid advising people that: “There’s guidance out there – just be cautious and enjoy yourselves.”
To which Alison clarified: “Basically, don’t slip a tongue in, Tom” as the crew burst into laughter at the cheeky comment.
It comes after the Health Secretary Sajid Javid added to the Christmas confusion when he revealed it is a “Javid family tradition” to kiss his wife under the mistletoe despite government advice.
The cabinet minister told ITV News: “People can snog who they wish. I’ll certainly be kissing my wife under the mistletoe – it's a Javid family tradition.
“It’s got nothing to do with the government who you kiss or anything like that. But the only thing is – there's guidance already out there – just be cautious and enjoy yourselves.”
After listening to the confusing advice, their expert argued: “Yeah, I don’t think I want the Health Secretary to talk us through how exactly he is going to kiss his wife.”
And fans were left in stitches following the hilarious interaction on the show as they took to Twitter to share their thoughts online.
One user penned: “How can we kiss cautiously? You can kiss my a*se that’s for sure lol.”
Another added: “Just use clingfilm if you wanna kiss someone under the mistletoe.”
