Alison co-hosted This Morning last week with singer Rochelle Humes. Since Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield went on their holidays, Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have been hosting four days a week, leaving Friday’s free for other ITV favourites to take over. But when a viewer questioned if she’d take on a bigger role on the show, Alison revealed why she wouldn’t agree to it.

This Morning fans were ecstatic last week when Rochelle announced she would be hosting the show with Alison.

“She’s shy, retiring, sort of doesn’t want anyone to make a fuss, it’s only Alison Hammond!” Rochelle announced.

Ever the performer, Alison entered the studio with her arms wide open, and the production team clapped as she did a lap.

This had fans calling for Alison to have an even bigger role on the show.

“I love Alison and Rochelle presenting together,” one viewer tweeted after Friday’s episode.

“They are amazing, please can this happen every day thank you @RochelleHumes @AlisonHammond xx”

Quickly followed by another, who said: “Ultimate girl power today! Tuned in n got that Friday feeling seeing these two. Roch is also glowing, she looks amazing (sic).”

But, when a viewer suggested five days of Alison would be overwhelming, the star stepped in on the debate.

“I love Alison, but a whole show, regularly, would be too much,” a viewer replied quickly after Friday’s edition.

The tweet sent viewers into a frenzy, especially when Alison herself got involved.

Alison saw the tweet and quickly replied: “Agreed.”

This left fans up and down the country devastated as they all hoped she might become a more permanent fixture on the show.

Even Loose Women star Stacey Solomon weighed in on the debate.

“It was the best [show] EVER IMO,” she said when she saw the initial tweet.

Of course, Alison has been a huge part of the show for the last 17 years.

She is a very busy lady at the moment and is currently filling in for another This Morning colleague.

Last week Alison tweeted: “I’ll be keeping Rylan’s shoes warm on BBC Radio 2 this Saturday.

“If you fancy a little Ali love come and join us. I’ve got some fab tunes lined up to see you through.”

Tomorrow Alison will be back with more hilarious capers alongside Dermot O’Leary.

This Morning airs on ITV weekdays at 10am.
