A Place in the Sun guest told presenter Scarlette Douglas a property reminded him of "student accommodation" as he rubbished her choice.
In Monday's episode (June 28) of the Channel 4 show, first aired in 2018, Scarlette was in Sicily in southern Italy trying to find a holiday home for Clive and Shami within their budget of £180,000.
The pair met in the frozen food section of a supermarket eight years ago and now lived with their three cats in Durham.
Although they hadn't been to Sicily before, Scarlette said the couple were "confident" they wanted to buy there.
Her first option was a three-bedroom house in the harbour town of Mazara del Vallo located right next to the beach valued at just €110,000.
There was space in the garden to grow their own vegetables, which is what they asked for, and there was even space for a swimming pool but they didn't like it.
Clive said it was "remote" and "isolated" and told Scarlette: "I get a feeling like, 'Where are we?'"
Scarlette said it was just a 10-minute walk to a town that sold local produce and said they would have had to be on the outskirts to get outdoors space.

But the couple hated the dining room, which they said was too small.
Clive then criticised the kitchen and told Scarlette: "This reminds me of my first student flat."
"Oh no, really?" she replied.
He added: "It's not your fault, it's just the amount of work needed is just not something I'd want to get involved in."
The next three viewings were just as much of a struggle and Scarlette seemed to be giving up hope until the fifth and final property, a three-bedroom villa in Mazara del Vallo valued at €260,000.

Clive said he loved it and considered putting an offer down but "didn't want to let anybody down" and was going to wait until he had sold his properties in the UK.
Scarlette quizzed why he couldn't make an offer subject to the sale of his own homes.
"It's better to have a clean slate and not complicate things in my opinion," he said.
The last Scarlette heard, the couple had sold one of their homes and were about to book another trip to Sicily to view the fifth property again.
