90 Day Fiancé star Caesar Mack might be striking out with his Ukrainian lover Maria, but it sounds like he’s got other fans. Mack, a nail technician, fell in love with Maria over an online dating service — but Maria’s behavior has fans and friends concerned that Mack is being catfish.

Now, with Mack left behind high and dry in Mexico by his alleged lover, fans are more convinced than ever that Maria is too good to be true. But maybe Mack’s just looking in the wrong places.

How Caesar Mack met Maria

According to 90 Day Fiancé star Caesar Mack, he met Ukraine-based Maria via an online dating service called Anastasia Date. According to Mack, the service “brings Americans and Ukrainian women to meet each other for a small price.” Anastasia Date writes on their site that they are “connecting singles across the world with their ideal partner.”

Mack revealed that Anastasia Date allows its users to send the women they’re interested in messages and gifts. The gifts cost real money. Mack explained that he spent $450 to send Maria a card and some roses when he found her on the service.

“And I think I’ve finally found the one woman that I’ve been searching for all my life,” said Caesar of Maria. “She emailed me back and there were immediate sparks. Yeah it was like firecrackers and everything were just booming off. She’s kind, smart, funny, she makes me feel special. She is my soulmate.”

And that’s not the only money the 90 Day Fiancé star is spending on Maria. Mack revealed that he sends Maria roughly $800 a month, and estimates that he’s sent her up to $40,000 already. Mack’s friends and family are concerned that he’s being catfished by Maria.

According to Caesar Mack, he’s tried to set up plane tickets for Maria several times. Maria has canceled the flight each time, however, sometimes meaning Mack loses the money he spent on the ticket. Recently, Mack’s boss gave him a $2,000 loan to try and fly Maria to Mexico so they could meet up.

When Caesar left for Mexico, he hadn’t heard from Maria in three days — something that surely set off red flags for viewers. Mack even ran into fellow vacationers who warned him that it sounds like he’s being catfished.

The day Maria was supposed to leave Ukraine, Mack received a message from her saying her flight was canceled. The airline later told Mack the flight was canceled due to insufficient funds.

“It wasn’t her fault. It was my fault. If the ticket wasn’t canceled, I think Maria would have gone on the flight. I still have hope I can meet her in person. When you really love somebody, you don’t ever give up on them. I’m still gonna try to get her here. I’m gonna do what it takes,” said Mack.

Mack’s secret admirers

Mack has admitted that he is something of a hopeless romantic. The 90 Day Fiancé star said, “I learned to do nails from my ex-girlfriend. She was my high school sweetheart, we dated for thirteen years, and when we broke up I was heartbroken. But, I’m still a hopeless romantic. It’s very important for me to have somebody that’s my soulmate. Somebody that I can walk the beach with, live my life, and basically live our life in like, a dreamland.”

While it seems to many that Maria isn’t the one to offer Mack that sort of romance, he has managed to charm some of his 90 Day Fiancé co-stars. During an Instagram Q&A, one fan asked Ashley Martson who she most enjoyed watching.

Martson wrote back, “[Caesar] doesn’t know it yet but I’m low-key his girlfriend with [Tiffany Franco], we are his #1 fans.”

Tiffany Franco backed Martson up, writing in her Instagram story, “I don’t think you understand the level of papi chulo-ness Ashley and I think you have.” She tagged both Mack and Martson.
