LEGENDARY Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel looked totally exasperated as his old team crashed out the Champions League last night.

The Red Devils lost 3-2 at RB Leipzig when all they needed was a draw to qualify for the knockout stage – and ex-Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher was delighted.

Schmeichel, 52, was in Paris watching the other game in United's group – Paris Saint-Germain vs Istanbul Basaksehir.

In footage that surfaced after the game, the Dane is seen watching United's match pitchside on a laptop.

And at one of many disappointing stages of the game for his old team, Schmeichel shakes his head and slumps back in his seat.

Carragher was back in the CBS studio alongside former Manchester City ace Micah Richards.

And when speaking to Schmeichel after the game, he gloated: "Peter, obviously you're disappointed.

"You can imagine we were quite pleased in here but we were almost as entertained by watching the game as we were by watching you.

"We did have a camera and we could actually see you.

"You're watching there on the laptop and you've had enough."

Earlier today, SunSport revealed United may miss out on a £50million transfer kitty as a result of Tuesday's Champions League departure.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's odds to be the next Premier League manager sacked were also slashed.

And Brendan Rodgers and Mauricio Pochettino were installed as favourites to take over is the Norwegian does go.
