THOUSANDS of login IDS and passwords of people who purchased tickets for the Tokyo Olympics have been leaked on the internet.
A government official confirmed today that the same information for Paralympic ticket buyers and also those who had used a volunteer portal for the Summer Games have been leaked online as well.
The official, who was speaking on condition of anonymity, added that the organising committee had launched an investigation into the matter.
No fans will be in attendance at the controversial Games amid the current coronavirus crisis in Japan – with locals angered over the decision to still go ahead with the event.
Team GB athletes have reportedly been instructed not to go to restaurants that serve alcohol or stay open after 8pm in Tokyo.
LOCAL BACKLASH
There is a growing backlash in the city over the Olympic Games getting the green light to continue.
And there is huge anger over foreign athletes, dignitaries and media being allowed to attend despite the capital being in a state of emergency.
Our stars have been warned to follow protocols and told to ‘not visit restaurants that are open after 8pm or that serve alcohol’.
It comes after organisers highlighted reports of accredited personnel for the Games being spotted drinking in downtown areas or violating quarantines.
Chiefs said the reports ‘have the potential to severely damage the reputation of the Tokyo 2020 Games and your organisations’.
Local concern in Tokyo is mounting over staging the Games.
Tens of thousands of foreign athletes, officials and journalists could accelerate infection rates and introduce more infectious variants.
And in a survey published by the Asahi Shimbun newspaper, over half of the Japanese public do not want the Games to go ahead.
OLYMPIC HEARTBREAK
Team GB sharp shooter Amber Hill says she has been left heartbroken after withdrawing from the Tokyo Olympics following a positive Covid test.
The 23-year-old – who was due to compete in the women’s Skeet competition – failed one of her pre-flight PCR tests on Tuesday evening.
Meanwhile, Team GB have been reassured the water in Tokyo Bay will be clean and clear.
A foul odour has been reported at the venue for triathletes and open-water swimmers and concerns have been raised about possible elevated levels of the dangerous E.coli bacteria.
Heavy rain is forecast in Tokyo from next Tuesday and it has been reported there could be the risk of a sewage leakage into the bay.
The foul smell often occurs at the bay after a downpour, as the antiquated sewage system – over 100 years old – becomes over run and spills out into the river which runs into Odaiba Marine Park.
The Odaiba Marine Park is set to be used on July 26, 27 and 31 for the triathlon, with the 10km marathon swim to go ahead on August 4 and 5.
Fox Sports claim athletes have held private discussions at the Tokyo 2020 Village, sharing their fears over the appalling smell and root cause.
The Australian squad are among those monitoring the water quality before competition.
BEAR DRAMA
This latest blow to Tokyo 2020 also comes after a BEAR was spotted at the Fukushima softball venue at the first event of the Games.
Officers have confirmed that they had been unable to track down the giant beast – which has been identified as an Asian black bear.
The animals are common across Japan and have been known to attack and kill people in the past.
A Fukushima police spokesperson confirmed that the intruder had been spotted last night and then again this morning.

And that was just hours before the opening pitch in a match pitting the host nation against Australia.
A statement said: “A guard found a bear inside Azuma Sports Park early in the morning yesterday. We also received similar information this morning.
“We couldn’t find or capture the bear, and while there won’t be any spectators at the stadium, we are on alert and searching for the bear around the site.”
