CAMERON SMITH has added a patriotic twist to his massive mullet for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
The Australian golfer, 27, has thrilled fans with his wacky hair-do for much of 2021 – including the recent Open in Sandwich, where he finished T33.
But world No28 Smith has decided to take his mullet a step further for the Olympics – by carving the letters 'AUS' into the sides.
Explaining the new look, Smith joked: "Yeah, I mean, it's the Olympics. It doesn't happen too often.
"I thought I would give Australia a shoutout on the side of the melon.
"I mean, I thought about it for a few weeks beforehand and then I just said 'stuff it, I'm going to do it'.
"I think it's been received pretty good."
Smith continued by joking his mum 'loves it', adding: "My mum called me up. She was laughing.
"She was like, 'oh, you were just on the news'. She called me all sorts of names, but she loved it.
"She loves that it brings a lot of joy to [people]. It puts a smile on people's faces."
Smith is joined by fellow Australian Marc Leishman at this summer's Games.

But his compatriot won't be joining Smith in getting the audacious do.
When asked if he'd follow suit, Leishman said: "No, I don't think I've got the head for it, to be honest. I'll leave that to Cam."
Smith is currently -3 through seven holes in his second round as he aims to bag a medal – but sits five shots adrift of Thai star Jazz Janewattananond at the time of writing.
