UNDER-PRESSURE Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has told the Manchester United board they have to buy a new striker in January.

Solskjaer lost both Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez to Inter Milan in the summer with no replacement brought in.

And Solskjaer said: “Of course, we let Alexis and Romelu go and you don't have to be a rocket scientist to see that it's a forward we need the next time we're going to recruit.

“We're looking for some creativity and goals. We need to score more goals, definitely.

“We've done great defensively but we're not happy with the return going forward.”

United have scored just four in their last five league games and only drew 1-1 against League One Rochdale in the Carabao Cup before winning on penalties.

Lukaku hit 42 goals in his two seasons at United and got off to a flyer with Serie A table toppers Inter Milan with three in his first six games.

NO REGRETS

Still Solskjaer says he has no regrets about letting Lukaku leave Manchester United.

He said: “It was time for Rom to go. He knows that. He didn't want to be here. What is the point in having players that don't want to be here?”

Solskjaer insisted in pre-season that he would need to buy a replacement if Lukaku left but none arrived.

With Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial injured, they’ll have to rely on 17-year-old Mason Greenwood tonight when they face Arsenal.

Solskjaer says he tried to find a new striker in the summer but simply couldn't get the right man.

He said: “There’s no point getting players in that you're not 100 per cent sure about.
