SERGIO AGUERO will miss the Manchester derby with injury, Pep Guardiola has confirmed.

The Argentine limped off during Manchester City's 2-1 victory over Chelsea on Saturday night and his manager has confirmed he will be out for a "few weeks".

Speaking ahead of City's Champions League clash with Shakhtar Donetsk tomorrow night, Guardiola said the forward would miss out but could not confirm how long or the exact nature of the injury.

Although he was a little hazy on details, City host United on December 7 in the Premier League and Guardiola confirmed the 31-year-old would definitely miss the local derby.

Aguero hobbled off in the 77th minute of Saturday's game holding what appeared to be his groin or upper thigh and will almost certainly be replaced by Gabriel Jesus for the upcoming games.

But when asked exactly what muscle Aguero had injured, Guardiola simply gestured downwards and said: "Something at the front, I don't know the word in English."

Even if the United game was the last one Aguero was to miss, the goal machine would still be absent for City's Premier League trips to Newcastle and Burnley beforehand.

And if he cannot recover before Christmas, he would also miss City's trip to Arsenal on December 15 and the huge top-of-the-table clash with Leicester City on December 21.

Upon hearing the news, fans online reacted in varied fashion.

One posted: "You hate to see it but he will score on December 7."

And another added: "Another £100m spent on a striker in January then."
