REAL MADRID have ended their pursuit of Manchester United star David de Gea, according to reports in Spain.

Los Blancos goalkeeper Keylor Navas is set to stay at the Bernabeu, with Zinedine Zidane considering the Costa Rican an important figure in his squad.

SunSport told you last week that United are confident of getting De Gea, 28, to sign a new five-year deal worth around £350,000 per week.

And As report that Real Madrid have backed down from chasing the Spaniard with Navas, 32, set to commit his future to Los Blancos.

The La Liga giants gave their keeper the green light in his search of a new club, although refused to let him go on a free transfer.

The Costa Rican was also demanding potential suitors to offer him a contract worth around £125,000 per week.

The Red Devils were interested in signing the keeper amid the uncertainty around De Gea's future.

But with the Spaniard ready to stay at Old Trafford, and no other serious offers from European clubs, Navas is now expected to remain in Madrid.

Zidane didn't want to lose his experienced shot-stopper with Thibaut Courtois yet to find his top form following last year's move from Chelsea.

Meanwhile, in a further boost for United, Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly also dropped out of the race for De Gea.

The Ligue 1 champs are in talks with AC Milan over a £54m swoop for Italy international Gianluigi Donnarumma.
