DEREK ADAMS' Morecambe are snapping up keeper Connor Ripley from Preston.

The free agent is moving across Lancashire to sign for the League One club who lost out on Trevor Carson when he left them.

Ripley has been let go by North End and spent a loan spell with Salford last season.

The 29-year-old shot-stopper made just seven appearances for the League Two outfit.

But Ripley has a host of experience in the football league, making him a great edition.

Preston also completed the signing of Newcastle goalkeeper Freddie Woodman.

"I spoke to the manager, not that he had to sell the football club to me, but the way that he works, he’s very passionate and he spoke very highly of the club.

“But also myself, I’ve played against Preston and I’ve never had an easy day at Deepdale, and I want to come here and give these fans something that they deserve.”
