MANCHESTER UNITED arrived for work on Thursday morning with transfer boss Matt Judge tasked with sealing Bruno Fernandes' transfer.

Officially the club's head of corporate development, Judge assists Ed Woodward with getting deals over the line and negotiating contracts.

The latest reports suggest personal terms are agreed with Sporting CP star Fernandes set to earn £100,000-a-week in England.

But the move won't be completed until he bids farewell to his current club with a performance in the Lisbon derby versus Benfica on Friday.

That means a United debut against Liverpool two days later is out of the question, potentially setting him up for a bow in the midweek clash with Burnley.

Judge joined the club in 2013 as former chief executive David Gill departed.

He has since overseen transfer spending surpassing £500million on the likes of Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku – with Fernandes costing as much as £60m.

Also heading into Carrington on Thursday was Marcus Rashford after the striker suffered an injury setback in the win over Wolves.

Suspicions he has been carrying a back injury for some time were more or less confirmed when a runout from the bench saw the England man last just 16 minutes.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admitted afterwards the decision to risk Rashford, when the score was 0-0, "backfired".

The forward is now a doubt for the weekend game at Anfield.

Solskjaer said after the game: "I didn't want to play him. I think he got a knock, a knee or something, in his back, but he's been struggling for a little while.

"That's why we've kept him away [from starting versus Wolves], but we needed the win.

"He's a quick healer and he'll play through some pain, definitely, if he's capable and it's not a bad, bad injury, but we've seen that he's struggled lately.

"But that's been more when he's been tired. He wasn't on long enough to be tired so it might be something that just happened there and then."
