LIVERPOOL are reportedly set to target Juventus' £43.5million rated Federico Chiesa as a Mohammad Salah replacement.

Chiesa was once wanted by legend Cristiano Ronaldo and he pleaded for Manchester United to sign him.

Liverpool fans were relieved they managed to keep Salah among their ranks this term.

The Reds rejected a verbal offer worth up to £150million for the 31-year-old from Al-Ittiad at the end of August.

While talks about the Egyptian's departure have died down Jurgen Klopp's side are bracing themselves for another mega bid in January and next summer.

Meaning Klopp has been on the hunt for a replacement, according to Spanish publication Fichajes.

The report claims the Reds are considering a move to sign Juventus star Chiesa.

The claim comes a month after Corriere dello Sport said the Italy international would gladly accept a move to Anfield, with Juventus demanding a £43.5million fee.

Chiesa was one of the star players at the European Championships two years ago as his nation went on to win the competition – beating England on penalties in the final.

Unfortunately, the 25-year-old has spent most of the year on the sidelines after nursing various injuries.

According to a Calciomercato report from October 2021, Cristiano Ronaldo was a big admirer of Chiesa at the time and wanted United to make a move to sign him.

The pair played with each other at Juventus before the Portuguese superstar returned to Old Trafford for an ill-fated year-and-a-half spell.

Meanwhile, Klopp earlier this month insisted Salah was not going anywhere.

He said: "I've never had, and I don't have now, doubts about his future, his commitment to this club.

"Believe me, you can't imagine how much fuss the whole world makes and how calm we are with it.”
