UNAI EMERY will implement the next phase of his Arsenal overhaul this summer, but it could be a tricky few months for the Spanish coach.

The Gunners boss has laid some decent foundations in North London – at times they showed real promise but still finished fifth and and were easily beaten by Chelsea in the Europa League final.

Failing to qualify for the Champions League is a massive blow, and with a paltry £40million to spend in the window, Emery will have to do his best Harry Redknapp wheeler-dealer impression to improve his squad.

SunSport reveals the possible arrivals that could turn Arsenal into serious contenders for silverware next term.

Skipper Laurent Koscielny enters the final year of his contract and the fact the 34-year-old is still the best defender at the Emirates tells its own story.

The Frenchman will be allowed to leave and has been linked with a return to France with Bordeaux while Inter Milan, Bayer Leverkusen and Turkish giants Fenerbahce are also tracking his progress.

If Emery really wants to generate funds and free up wages, he and the club will have to cut their losses on Mesut Ozil.

The German does not justify his billing as club top earner trousering £350,000-a-week, but who will take him and will the 30-year-old take a pay cut to leave?

Arsenal are struggling to drum up any serious interest in Ozil, with Fenerbache keen but unwilling to go anywhere near his wages and Inter Milan showing interest in January but again his pay-packet is the stumbling block.

INCOMINGS

Emery wants another right-back due to the long-term injury absence of Hector Bellerin and PSG’s Thomas Meunier fits the bill.

PSG want £20milion for Manchester United fan Meunier whose days look to be numbered in Ligue 1.

The Arsenal boss is keen to add a genuine winger to his ranks next term and Belgian defender's fellow countryman Yannick Carrasco fits the bill.

The former Atletico Madrid star issued an early ‘come and get me plea’ in order to end his China crisis at Dalian Yifang.

Carrasco told SunSport he was close to joining the Gunners in January and a switch to the Premier League is his preferred next stop.

Another option to replace Aaron Ramsey could be Borussia Dortmund’s Mario Gotze.

The former golden boy of German football lost his way after a move to Bayern Munich five years ago.

But the 27-year-old has fought back from injury and illness to score seven goals with seven assists in 34 games last term.

Gotze has another year to run on his current deal and could be tempted to try his luck in England if the right offer is on the table.

If Arsenal can land free up their wage bill and land those targets it could be a very different looking side next season.
