TEMPLEGATE tackles Saturday's racing confident of finding winners.

TOTALLY CHARMING (2.40 Ascot, nap)

He has hot apprentice Billy Loughnane on board and comes here after a Curragh seventh that was much better than it looked. He tanked along for much of the race and just faded inside the final furlong. That could have been down to a lack of match fitness that won’t be an issue today.

FORTUNATE STAR (3.05 Nottingham, nb)

He likes some give in the ground and went close at Catterick last time. This trip is ideal and he has more to offer.

AL MUBHIR (3.50 Haydock, treble)

This son of Frankel looked well up to this Listed standard when scooting in at Leicester 14 days ago. This trip is ideal and he can take another step forward for William Haggas.

SIR RUMI landed a decent handicap at Epsom last time when testing ground was right up his street.

The handicapper has been fair with a 4lb rise in the weights over his favourite trip so another good run is on the cards.

Savvy Knight showed up well when a close fourth on comeback at Kempton last month.

He sees out this distance and will be a big threat if building on that switching back to turf.

Nathaniel Greene had his moments last season including a decent win at Haydock over 1m6f.

His stamina will be an asset in the conditions and he can figure for William Haggas.

High Fibre has been off for a year but was going the right way before his break.

He has moved to Harry Fry ahead of this comeback and it’s interesting to see him upped in distance.

Saratoga Gold won three on the spin last back-end before his handicap mark caught up with him.

He still has plenty of weight but is a battler who may nick a place.

Ravens Ark hasn’t won since his first run last season but has dropped to his last successful mark so can’t be totally discounted.

2.05

TIMELESS MELODY has shown plenty of promise at maiden level and loved the testing ground when scoring at Leicester last time.

Despite that smooth success, the handicapper has been fair with her opening mark and she can strike for William Haggas.

Mountain Song had plenty left in the tank when getting off the mark at Southwell when dropping to this trip paid dividends.

A 7lb rise in the weights means he needs to produce more but he’s capable of better.

Julia Augusts is interesting coming back from a long break.

She is nicely bred and won her maiden at Thirsk before a fair run at Newbury.

She may need this return but can’t be ruled out.

Beccaro Rose pulled much too hard returning from five months off at Newbury last time.

She showed some promise last year and can leave that effort behind.

Belhaven loved the deep ground when getting her head in front at Nottingham.

The handicapper has shoved her up 7lb but she is clearly on the upgrade.

One Morning won a Newmarket maiden this time last year and has run just one since.

She shapes as though further would suit but is one to watch from what looks a fair handicap mark.

2.40

TOTALLY CHARMING has hot apprentice Billy Loughnane on board and comes here after a Curragh seventh that was much better than it looked.

He tanked along for much of the race and just faded inside the final furlong.

That could have been down to a lack of match fitness that won’t be an issue today.

He ended last season with a comfortable big-field win at Doncaster where soft ground was ideal and he can go close for in-form trainer George Boughey.

Vafortino won this 12 months ago under Benoit Sayette and the Frenchman is back on board today.

He ran well at Newmarket last month in tacky ground so should handle conditions.

Baradar was an excellent third in the Lincoln when just running out of petrol over the mile.

The drop back a furlong is ideal and he is back from the same handicap mark with every chance.

Veteran Safe Voyage loves this track and proved he still had the legs when third in the Thirsk Hunt Cup.

He could nick a place at tasty odds.

Darkness didn’t get the run of the race at Newmarket last week and has had a little nudge down the weights which can’t hurt.

HAYDOCK

3.15

TEDDY BLUE should be suited by the likely breakneck pace after a battling success at Plumpton last time.

He was a solid third in a hot handicap at Newbury before another decent effort at Kelso.

He looks on a fair weight and his rider takes off a handy 5lb. Brentford Hope has been running well at lower levels and looks ready for this sort of challenge after wins at Wincanton and Huntingdon.

This trip and a bit of cut in the ground suits.

Aucunrisque was ahead of the tip at Newbury in February and is better than we saw in the County Hurdle at Cheltenham.

He was then behind Teddy Blue at Plumpton and there won’t be a lot between them again.

Byker took his form to a new level when beaten a neck in the Fred Winter at the Festival.

He clearly likes a big field and this trip so a 4lb rise in the weights makes him a major player.

Parramount didn’t fire at Aintree last time but landed two easy wins at Donny and Fakenham and could bounce back although he’s 10lb higher now.

Keep an eye on the betting for clues about Tony Martin’s Nibiru who was second in good company at Leopardstown two runs ago.

LINGFIELD

1.50

GOLD MEDAL was impressive when winning here last time.

That came over six furlongs but he finished strongly and should have no problem getting home. He looks capable of better.

Legal Reform had a bit left in the tank when scoring at Catterick latest and is only 2lb higher today with Richard Kingscote taking over.

Sharvara has Oisin Murphy on board and was just a length off the pace at Wolver latest so should be on the premises again.

Otago was a close second on his last run here and went one better at Bath latest.

He’s another with every chance in this open race.

Prenup drops back to his best trip here after a decent effort over a mile at Chelmsford and is another to consider.

2.25

SANDRINE improved over this trip last season and can take another step forward as a four-year-old.

She held her own in Group 1 company and trainer Andrew Balding is in flying form.

Sacred was last seen going close in a Newmarket Group 2 in October.

She left her challenge too late there but Ryan Moore will surely time it better this time.

Queen Animatu is a Listed winner here and kicked off this season with a big win on Good Friday.

She didn’t like the soft ground at The Curragh last time and will be much happier here.

White Moonlight didn’t get home over 1m2f last time and is better at this trip.

She needs more at this level which isn’t likely at the age of six.

3.00

BE HAPPY brings the strongest form into the race and Aidan O’Brien has already won a couple of Classic trials this week.

This Camelot filly is fit from a solid Group 3 comeback in France last month and can take a step forward over this longer distance.

Eternal Hope is a potential big improver for Charlie Appleby.

We haven’t see a lot of her yet but she didn’t have to hit top gear when scoring at Chelmsford latest.

This is clearly a lot tougher but the trainer knows what he’s doing.

Bright Diamond was a solid third in the Fillies’ Mile at Newmarket in October and is bred to see out this longer trip.

She may need this comeback but is on the shortlist.

Perfect Prophet signed off last season with a decent effort at Doncaster but needs to improve.

3.35

MILITARY ORDER looked a nice prospect when winning on comeback at Newbury last month.

He saw out the 1m2f well and, even though it was a modest race, he did it nicely. There’s a lot more to come.

Circle Of Fire proved he has trained on when a decent second in Listed company at Newmarket.

He will have no problem getting the extra quarter-mile and the King’s colt could yet be in the Derby picture.
